So which is better I know alot of it is prob. rider preference but can some explain what the major differences are when it comes to riding? I am going to be new to a trials specific frame either stock or mod. but leaning towards stock. So lets say adamant A2 06 +55 bb or echo pure 06 +15 or Zoo Pitbull +25. What would make one of these better than the other as far as bb rise is concerned? anything? All Long Version as well.

Thanks,
Eric

Just because I like the lower bb better. I would suggest the pitbull or pure.

My friends short czar actually feels really good, but my friends long adamant imo feels like shit! I dont know what it is between the two.
But regardless, my +20mm simtra feels so stable and at home like. I dont think I will ever dig the high bb shit.

So, thats my opinion. High bb feels too finicky and crack head like.

i got a good old 0 BB pure 01 : i dig this bike

i never tried a high BB frame : but as far as I can understand it : on a high BB frame, rear tire hoping in much more easy because you are almost standing on the top of the tire ( uniwheel feeling )
As your bar is also much higher, you have more lever-effect on your front wheel
but I think the negativ point is the weird feeling of riding so high...

facts :
- awesome riders like damon watson and neil T + marc vinco ar high BB riders
- TRA rode a long time the +80mmBB vinco bike : he went back to the lower BB coustellier frame
- the market of trial frame is in the trend of high BB (+25 to +45mm BB ) : IMO

no?

High BB and low BB are similar on both wheels, but feel very different on the rear wheel. With low-BB frames (Levelboss, old Coust), you feel like the front end is dropping all the time, and the front of the bike feels heavy. A higher BB is much more stable on the rear wheel. All rear wheel moves are easier, including taps to rear.

There is more ground clearance for any move that involves hooking the front wheel around an object. This is especially true for slanted or rounded rocks. With a level BB you would hit the crankarm or pedal, but with the high BB there is plenty of clearance.

The only disadvantage for me is that I can't angle my crank down and rest on the pedal. I like to be lazy in a section sometimes and relax for a second on my pedal , but the high BB doesn't let you do this. This isn't a big deal though. I'll never go back to a level trials frame, +40 is perfect for me.

i've been on low (like drop 20) up to +60. i've felt like i've done my best riding on the +10 to 15 bikes. i had a +25 that would have ridden well had it not been kind of cheap in other aspects.

i'd sya the main difference between the hi and low bb bikes is that when you nail a move on a hi-bb bike, it does the work for you. when you dont nail it, the bike works against you and shit is harder to do. on the lo-rise bikes, you do more of the work when you nail it and you arent screwed so much when you dont hit it perfect. so i think the low bikes are much more forgiving to a rider that isnt super dialed in yet. the top guys are switching to the hi rise bikes because they are dialed and can fully make use of the way those bikes ride.

Just the other day I think I finally figured out the 2 wheels tuck style of sidehop and now I under stand why the high BB is better for many people.

Having said that, I still don't prefer it. I like the feeling of balancing between my hands and feet and not just standing on the rear axle. I do think high BB is more capable, but also tempermental. That's my 2 cents. The only real way to tell is actual riding to decide for yourself.

Edit, I slightly disagree with JK, I feel terrible rolling around on a high BB. I feel all hunched forward like I am going over the bars and I can't roll down anything comfortably. But once you get on the back wheel it is like night and day. OK, just thought I would add that.

That was my problem with the higher BB (40mm+) I've tried number of setup with the stems & handlebar but never felt like I had a good balance on two wheels. Yes it was great on rear but even taps felt really awkward, often feeling like I was going to loop out.

I find 20mm BB feels just right, maybe slightly lower. I haven't exactly measured my Pitbull but I'm assuming it's around there if not about 15mm.

i ride an even bb height, i found riding a higher bb i also helt hunched over forwards but fine hopping on the rear tire. i also found it harder to do manuals.. rock walks.. ect. maybe i wasn't used to the bike, but i find it much easier on the even frame or any low bb frame if you're into any of that style of trials.

I've ridden -0-/ +10/+15/+20/ +55's...I like the +20 the best. It gives me extra clearence and no funny feeling. I rode a +55 for a month and I just coulden't get too comfortable on it. Rolling rock's, hooks and front wheel moves were easy. But I coulden't gap or tap worth crap with it. But thats just me. I see lots of riders riding very well on high BB bikes.

This discussion is mainly for stock bikes though. For mods nowadays there arn't any with +20, or anything like that. They are all +55, so for people who ride those there isnt a whole heck of alot of choice. That being said I still find a +55 mod feels different then a +55 stock, but that is based highly on stem choice and other such things.

I've ridden a:

BT 5.0 = ca 10mm bb+, felt heavy and slow
Planet-X tibo = 20mm bb+ (?), quite good, not so slow as the bt 5.0
BT 6.0 = 40mm bb+ = Again very slowridden and slow-mo feel
Koxx Vinco = 80mm bb+, a very responsive and quick frame! Never had a frame that is so nice to sidehop, bunnyhop and so on.

And bear in mind, all these frames were used with the same stem/bar setup. Brisa dat is

I like my +60 czar and that was after coming off a +10 or whatever pure.
Feels stable to me on both wheels and really nice on rear. My only complaint is the occasional looping out by not getting over the front enough on a gap.

But then i had just the opposite problem occasionally on low bb where my front would drop too quickly on a gap.

I think a lot of the problem with high bb was the inclusion of extremely short stays as well. The stays should be proportional to the the bb height. Like the vinco, it had like (correct me if im wrong) +80bb and long 390? stays. From what ive heard, it rode nice but ive never tried one.
