The riding is most important I think.. I know you'll do a good job editing no matter what.. so my greed leads me to wanting simpler (more footage). I'm just really looking forward to it at this point.. you've definitely got the hype up. Should sell like hot cakes.

what if you did some sort of like..section thing? parts that focus strictly on the awesome riding, others show a more artistic approach..i guess thats like a middle ground sorta?

how long would the shorter video be? i just want to see alot of coust riding. and if editing will make it shorter than fuck it

tzimon- now if only the cous family would understand that last phrase you typed...

i would rather go all out crazy or keep it super simple, if you try for that middle ground it looks like crap, like "oh, nice try but you look like you dont know what you're doing..."

honestly, i think the cous brothers should just be watched in awe... so i would like to do simple edits, toned down music (so its just something there to either enjoy or just as easily ignore), and keep the focus on "holy crap, rewind that"

thanks ahead for all your votes and input people.

I'd want to see a longer, simpler video.

i'd rather see them do their preps/runups then finish off the move with some decent musc than see some ridiculous fades of them doing the sole move which only takes .2 seconds

definately just throw together the clips and chuck in some decent music. i'd like the music to match the riding somewhat (if they're doing huge taps/crazy gaps then make it a little bit more upbeat) whereas in other areas more mellow. so yeah, option 1 for me: long and simple. it will bring out the real super awesome riding even more. :bigthumb:

ha, wouldn´t it be possible to do 2 audio tracks (since its a dvde)?
one audio track without music, pure original sound
    the other with music
    possible?

audio commentary with cous/or kevin talking would be the coolest thing since the invention of blowjobs though

i want to see riding. nothing but pure, hardly edited riding with music that is enjoyable but doesn't stick out.

i say keep the style of editing suitable to the music, and change the music radically. basically you can have the best of both worlds by swiching it up. dont be afraid to use loads of fotage, not enough to make it fustratingly slow, but better too much than too little. I love the long scenes that shows the preperation, execution, and conclusion to several consecutive moves. like showing a whole section in a comp.
Definately option 1, but mix it up with some energetic upbeat music/editing in parts.
I very much enjoyed the hermance vids.

    Kevin,

With cousts im sure that you could just put anything you want in and not edit it at all and still put us in awe.
Personally, I think videos like and_all_that_could_have_been and nopogo_dj1 and d2 are very well done videos and are a little like what you are talking about. I do agree with you in not overediting the video and as the poll shows, just go with the first option!

I can't believe the lack of the 3rd option votes...I am 1 of two. I would prefer #2 to #1 if you are doing it like that, but ah...

I like number one because I just want to see a ton of riding. These guys are some of the best and the more footage I get the better.

I also dislike a lot of fancy editing!!

    #1 all the way!!!

I think editing plays a large role, especially in production DVDs. I have a couple videos of other sports, and the editing that matches the scenes "plays" better.

If the music/editing is weak, in the end people are gonna be like "editing coulda been better..." and the video can get repititous, especially if it's longer, say like 30 minutes....music matching the riding will atleast spice it a little....

I'm not sure how much editing you are talking about. I enjoy to see moves happen in-sync with the music but it doesn't have to do that all the time. I feel keeping the basic editing simple and just looking for those couple moments for things to line up is cool. So that falls under number one? Not sure, but that is what I enjoy.

a perfect example of good editing with "alot of riding" is Manifesto. Music was never really "out of place" adn the editing was good....I think a vid like that would be awesome. Otherwise, it'd be like watching an internet vid, well, on your TV....
