I am going to order a couple new Avid front disc brakes. One will be for my trials bike. I have a 203mm on my Chameleon urban bike and love the way it works. Question is does anyone use the 203mm for trials? If not what size should I get? Thanks in advance. JJ

I weight 200 lbs and the stock 160mm works fine for me...of course I'm not doing a bigger front moves like some of the seasoned riders on here.

Size matters. Both meanings are applicable.

i like 185, good mix of power and the rotor is still small enough to not get destroied....im running 160 now, but i notice a lack of power compared to 185

I have a 203 rotor on right now, and am thinking of just going back to the 185 with better pads. I'd say go that route, 185 is just fine, but get some decent pads that will modulate.

For the front wheel moves, its all about technique, I can kind of do them with a 203 avid that will lock up perfectly, but logic with a hope 160 can do it perfect and his brake works like a p.o.s.

    203!

get the 203mm! i run one with my mini and i still want more power! its kind of addicting, i havet never bent it or whacked it hard on objects, when you slip off a ledge or something most tires buldge out farther than the disc, go big! you wont regret it, you go smaller and you might..
    Peace

I'm on a mod, and am running 160 right now. I really can't ask for any more power. However, because i have a 185 rotor sitting in my garage, i plan on seeing how that goes (although, because i'm on mod it does seem like it will be much easier to hit...)

i have the 160mm for the louise, its the wavey rotor but Im thinkin of swappin to the complete circle rotor with the drilled holes, just as a backup and i think it looks sweet.

185 is the size of choice. some run 203 on the trials rigs, but i think that is taking more risk than i am comfy with. cant go wrong with avid..anybody want a 2004 magura marta?
