I want to know what was a reasonable tap up height in low gear (22-20).
The same as any other gear.
what gear do you run on urban, and what is your average high tap?
Really JR? I thought it might matter, because a bigger gear lets you get more run up speed and still have enough power to lift the front wheel when you reach the obstacle. I wondered cause I am running 22-20 single speed and wondered if it would limit me at all in the future.
I highly doubt it, looks to be that those euro's use a near 1:1 ratio for everything. Everybody I know uses 22/21, and some can up like crazy.
don't run different gear ratios for natty and urban... just stick with one ratio and learn to use it for both
Yeah, youre gearing should come way after terrain, the ground you are running up on and how high the object is in the long list of things to think about when riding natty.
i agree with sticking to one gear, i use 22-19 but some of my mates use 22-17 which i don't like at all, but they run it for natural as well and don't do too badly with it.
