    Sup guys.

Just wondering how low I should go with the tire pressure on my new bike. I'm about 225lbs. I never checked it before on my old Kona cuz I would just sit on the seat and have an idea if it's too low or not. My new bike will have no seat so I'm just wondering what you guys would recommend. Does it matter what kind of tires I'll be running? Or rims? Or is it all the same?

    Thanks in advance. :bigthumb:

Depends on tire more than anything. 225 pounds? Good tire, 20 psi...but if you are hard pump it up a bit- some like to ride so they hit the rim on big moves and squish a lot on other things, other prefer very hard (good for rolling) etc.

fyi I used to run around 16 psi in my michelin comp 24, I currently run over 30 psi in my maxxis now and it still folds more than the michelin did at half the psi and it feels identical to the michelin at around 15 psi in terms of "springy"-ness. hurrah.

    Hey Andrew,

I talked to ya before. I'm one of them noobs
So it does depend on the tire then. I'll have to see what tire I'll get on
my trials bike and then I guess pump it to 20psi and just see how it feels.
I'm just working on my pedal hops. I can't do huge gaps yet, and I don't really have the hight either. So I guess I won't have to go too low for now.

Thanks for your opinion. By the way, your latest practice video rocks. I've been watching it and many others and it helps a lot. Keep them coming!

    And I only weigh 175.... :greddy2:

I weigh around 250 pounds, and i run a specialized roller rs 2.3 tyre with around 25 psi on a x-lite phatso rim, i love it, i used to run around 35-40, but the extra bounce that the lower pressure produces is soo nice, and with the wide rim it rarely folds badly, i would recomend that u pump your tyres up to say 40 psi, then let air out of them until u find what u feel is right for u.

Depends if you are comfortable with that rim hitting feeling. I like squish without a lot of rim hitting so I run low 20s to 30psi. I'm pretty new 6 months of real riding but have some pretty big up's(38inches for a newB) and gaps(6 feet or so) and 153lbs so I tend to hit the rim a lot which annoys me so I tend to want to run 30 but usually decide to lower it so I suggest pump it up to 30 and then let it out until it feels comfortable. Since your not doing anything crazy it'll be easy to just play arround with psi. I'm also running a 2.3 panaracer dh fire pro. you can probably get away with a not so good tire at a semi high psi for trials because you are new. Best thing to do when ur new is play arround with different gear ratios and psi pressures taht people recommend save you a lot of time.
    hope this helps

Has anyone actually pinched a michelin? I'm wondering because I've hit the rim so hard a few times and it hasn't pinched..

I'm sure someone must have pinched it.. but how?

A couple people have confessed to the pinching of the michelin. They confessed that it was on some pretty crazy hits though.

I've pinched mine several times, but in my defense it does have all of the knobs cut off right where the tire would interface with the rim. I bought the tire used and didn't notice that until afterwards.

I pinched my michelin once. I got this tire right before I got hooked up with maxxis and I was using it at the expert level. It has great pinch flat protection and grip. I really think it comes down to personal preference. The one flat I got on that michelin was a ridiculously sloppy gap to a sharp 90 degree concrete ledge.
