What are the long and short term side effects of cocaine? I know like addiction and weight lose but what are the others? I am just wondering why it is just about the worst drug in everyone's mind...

Side effects? Usually the side effects of ANY drug are mitigated by the lack of accurate memory of what it was that happened, changed, that made the person 'high'. Cocaine usually always makes a person feel pretty happy and confident, at first, and side effects include wanting that happiness and confidence again and again (the best way I can describe a cocaine high is that it totally removes your normal demand for a REASON to feel happiness. You realize that you can be happy without having a reason, and you really do feel an amped up happiness. I use happiness here as an example because its what 99.99% of us want to be.. right now. Its where we tend to go, if allowed/if we allow ourselves.) Whats usually forgotten is the horrible realization that its 4 am and theres no more coke and you know you wont approach sleep for a good 3-4 hours. Thats 3-4 hours of hateful misery, and theres nothing you can do about it (crack is far worse than powder cocaine in this area.) But yeah, the feeling when you first take it is great. Cocaine was used in all sorts of 'medicine' in this country untill the early 1900's, though the doses were pretty small I think.

When I said side effects are mitigated by memory that applies more to the hard drugs like LSD. In that case, your awareness is opened up to a different nature of things, and its a view that shatters previous beliefs and assorted mental security blankets. IF you took LSD and remembered in detail what it was like, you couldnt function in society, obviously. You wouldnt be crazy, but your perspective just wouldnt corrospond to any mass shared beliefs. So like sleep to a cocaine high, forgetting is sometimes the best answer to the riddles of what harder drugs do. Then too, side effects are connected to the individuals own mental construction. Some people cant handle anything sweeter than ice cream without adult supervision --forget about cocaine. They would probably sell their house and pimp their wife to keep getting high. People with more discipline can experiment with a bit more bravado, though even this carries certain risks. The current laws for example.

Drugs *do* open up your perspective, generally speaking, though the opening depends on the drug. Some create a alcohol-like familiar opening
(pot), but others blast a moon roof through the top of your consciousness! :) and theres nobody to help you back but you (LSD.)
Cocaine is safe to try for an adult and reasonably disciplined mind, and all that talk about it being the 'worst' drug is a bunch of horseshit. Propaganda. But I said 'try' --I didnt say become a coke addicted male prostitue living in a den of iniquity and filth because you sold everything to buy more coke. Its good, but its not THAT good :)

p.s. yes i've tried everything i mentioned in this post.

I know that you can loose your temper really fast. A bike shop owner in Wichita, Kansas (Doc, they call him), was an abuser in his earlier years.

My bro asked if had a specific part and how much it cost. He went in the back and eventually came out and handed it to my brother. My brother again asked the price. When Doc mentioned it, my brother kindly said he couldn't get it today. So Doc hucks this thing clear across the room and his voice goes into a super pissed high octave of rage. He storms through the store knocking over clothes and stuff.

...shoulda bought the part.
ya, you dont need to sell your bike, just hang out on the corner with some lipstick on.
Yeah, when I started to do coke life got much better, what? who said that
It's all fun! Stay away from meth. A mix of ritalin and oxycontin will make you ride amazingly well.....only briefly.
I rode my bike home from school once after three tabs of acid....WOW....I was BMXing then and was sprinting through town, jumping shit and I hit a car.Raked my bar all the way down the side.
Historically bikes and LSD go way back .Originally Albert Hoffman,
when experimenting with ergot fungus research ,accidentily was exposed and rode his bike home from the lab ....what a trip!

Its interesting to see what peoples reactions are or would be to using, lets just say 'pills', to intentionally change their perspective. Modern research and science could come up with the right combination of chemicals so as to force the brain to drop inhibitions and allow really incredible base-reality information come through, tapping specific parts of the brain. People would see themselves honestly from a much deeper and more personal perspective than they ever have before. It would change their lives for the better, at least in personal terms. And yet such a thing would never happen or be allowed to develop legally.

To be perfectly honest, people in general dont want more truth about themselves, or about reality. They tend in an all too human way to only accept information and input they can control on an ego level. What doesnt fit easily is simply disgarded and forgotten, mainly out of fear. Its no wonder then that, donkey-like, they look about at events in the outside world and wonder how things can be the way they are. Or that they fear the death that is waiting for them ahead in calander time.
But I know this: your being is no accident.

I figure anyone who rides trials has the balls to apply that same technical minded thinking to other areas of experience. Bring that trials mentality with you everywhere, even on drug trips if thats what you are into. Or at least into your dream-state if you are of a mind to 'just say no'.

"im afraid of the dark"
all I know is cocaine makes people extremely annoying. Never will try that shit. It's for stupid frat boys anyway.

Anyone who is a "drug enthusiast" is going to be annoying as shit. There's a reason people tell you not to do it. It makes you fucking stupid and annoying as hell. I think you should be able to take whatever drugs you want, but just stay the hell away from me when your on them. Most likely i'll be drinking whiskey and i will want to beat the shit out of you.
I have noticed that people are annoying when they are wired and you are not. I have never been a fan on "using" when other people are around and are not "using".
I want to kill all ****** hippie pot heads. Ski bums especially.
Back to uownme's original question.. I believe initial side effects would be increased heart rate.. It's a massive central nervous system stimulant, which can be deadly for some people right away. In men, it's associated with secondary stroke and even death.. but then again certain people are more predisposed to that than others. If you do too much, you can have some quite unfavorable experiences on the way down! Generally, you can begin to freak out and start feeling a "bugs" sensation.. which apparently feels like millions of bugs crawling beneath your skin.

However, I know many people who have tried it, and a handful who use it all the time. Like Dane said, people with good self control and a sense of responsibility usually do not get carried away with it.
I have heard about the "coke bug". It just feels like something is under your skin and the only way you feel that you can calm it is to take more?
whatever you guys do, stay away from pringles!!

Once you pop you cant stop!

for serious.
