Oversized brake cable?

    I've learned that you can get 2mm diam oldschool brake cables and 6mm housing to go with it. Any point for my Avid mech or vees? Or just silly :)

    oversized cabling is for old canti style brakes. It really isn't going to give you any more stopping power, just feel much rougher in the lines. you will probably have to modify your levers and your cable mounts on the caliper to fit it properly. Up to you though

    Ah, so no point in getting it. Which normal cable'n housing to get. Is Shimano good enough?

    xtr is said to work great.

    XTR> ALL. 2mm old school is really really crappy. most unsmooth shit ever made. forget it.

    There is a reason they went to something different...

    I love my XTR housing but you can use just about any housing and still have your brakes work great.
