Picked myself up a £20 Mavic D321, a £15 1" holesaw, and drilled a bit. Didnt fancy shelling out £40 on a single wall, non-welded piece of gashness (Koxx rim) you see...

Should reduce tyre roll this Sunday at the next comp anyway...

PS: Rim weight is 540g, width 36mm.

    Wotcha reckon?

that's exactly what I did to my 321, except with a 7/8 hole saw. I have another one sitting around for when this one DEFINITELY implodes. The rim was flexy as shit after I drilled it. You did a nice jorb.

    is that a bling bling.

sure grey is gay, but its ano and brakes work like fuckers, pitty he runs a disk. Although maybe they are disk only rims?

Haha, yeah its pretty flexy. Less flexy than a Koxx 38mm front rim though... and lighter... so we'll see how it holds up. The grey is ok, dont fancy some uber-bling gold rims or summat... And as Kevin says, its disk only, as i like my front brake to work :)

I did it before i built it up... but i dont see any reason why you couldnt drill while it was built up!

I'll let you know when/if it dies, hehe, hopefully will be ok though...

Oh, and the tyre is a Minion Front 2-Ply Supertacky... making my front wheel heavier than some people's rears (ouch).

    Cheers for the comments!

My black ISO King front came in today. I'm thinking of getting it built up with one of those d321 rims. I was looking at them before, but I wasn't too sure about their "drillability". Thanks for testing that out for us.

Drill before if you have the option.. too often you'll get some annoying little bits of shrapnel rattling around that even a shopvac won't get to... turnin your wheel into a tamborine. Minor annoyance.. I like a quiet bike though. Not that you can hear it with the hub buzzin around... 3:30 in the mornin makes for a ramble on a tamborine wheel.

    Damn OTN and OCD.

Well its dead. Haha. Done me proud for over 3 months though.

Landed a biiigg flat gap to front wheel at a funny angle (turned the bars for some reason  ) and it now looks like this:

    http://www.trials-nation.com/?page=image_p...op3gfa2i9om.jpg

I reckon my X618 would have been worse for wear after the landing i put it through though :eek3: However it probably wouldnt have died in such a dramatic fashion :bigthumb:

Survived my biggest 180 gaps to front wheel ever though (just under 6.5ft) :) So i wont have any issues with doing the same drilling again...

But with 1" holes in it, its lighter than a Try-All front rim...
