Just wanted to show u all my BT raven, it rides sooo nice, it's wheel base is a mere 1090mm, with the fatty forks, Shame about the Echo ffw cranks being total shit, and stripping after 3 hours of ligh riding. Hope u like.
Umm he has a front disc brake, why would drilling the sidewalls of his front rim effect his braking at all? A grind on a rim isn't used to save weight, drilling, however, is. Martin
how long have you been running the front drilled sidewals, how does it hold up and have you drilled in the traditional spot as well? I'm guessing that will let you lose more weight than drilling the usual place. Beautiful bike by the way I would love to hop on that. 1090mm sounds insane to me ( i ride a zebdi). I want on now
I seen sombody with this textured rim the other day.. It was an old french road bike.. They maid it textured for the same reason as we grind the rim for better brakeing... Due to the fact that they had the worst brakes in the world even invented on that bike... Do U think a rim with textured side walls would be better then a ground one... Eric
Sorry not sure whether there is a dealer in the US. The front rim is a mavic f519, it has been drilled in the usual places between the spokes, but as i don't use a rim brake i thought i might aswell give it a try on the side walls, and other than looking good i lost about 150g overall. Thanks for the positive feedback, it is just a shame that the cranks are total shit, hopefully i should have a set of middleburns soon. :bigthumb:
RomanC at this forum is distributing the BT Ravens in the US. PM him, he has I think three left right now(or at least getting)
Hi, about the cranks. Echo sold some cranks with bad threding, but this was disscoverd and us importers where told not to sell these...sounds like you might have got some of them, have a chat with your Echo dealer. Sorry about the crap language, im norwegian so i`m allowed to.
Yes, perhaps they had some with bad threading, but this has happened to me twice now, with the new and old style cranks, so i am not getting them again. And the frame is aluminium.
