I have been wanting to switch to a single speed bmx style chain as I am a fat ass and have broken a few chains in my time. I dont care about shifting, but have noticed that unless the derailer is in absolutely perfect adjustment, it wont back pedal right. I believe that it is because of the tight clearance of the chain through the derailer pullys, but I am not quite sure. Im running 8 speed. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a certian deralier that works good? Thanks!

switch to a 7 or 6 speed, how many cogs out of that 8 do you actually use? More room between cogs means less hassle. I'm running a bmx(koxx) chain right now, when I had a derailleur, it worked totally fine, though I dont think Ive ever shifted it, it back pedals fine and is plenty strong.
