Anyone know of any alternative oils for hs33 that wont destroy it. $18.00 for 16oz. is a little retarded for magura blood unless you can draw some up and shoot it in your arm . :rant2:

2.5 shock oil is quite good, but water is much better.

just goto a pharmacy and get regular mineral oil.. its only 5 bucks for a huge bottle.. just gotta stand the embarrasment of purchasing a laxative..

it worked for me, I have a solid brake, and I can pooh

Water feels sick on the lever... but makes your brake seals crap out over time sadly.. only downfall. Took mine a while to start leaking.. if it's only the lever you can replace the seal.. but if the pistons start taking a crap, and they will sooner or later with water, they're toast.

I'll stick with Finish line 2.5 weight shock oil from now on. Compromise.

    water

    Pros
-makes your brakes feel very very smooth like as if you were just pulling on a lever with no lines or anything. water bled brakes feel super smooth, you have to try them to understand just how good they feel.
    - makes the brake move and return very quick, no sluggish feel.
-makes your brake feel firmer a bit.
    -way cheaper than mag oil

    Cons
    - it does get to your seals. Every now and then you have to bleed the brake with oil to get the seals lubed up and swelled again.
    - can corrode the inside of the lever/slave cylinders
    - obviously it will freeze if you ride in the winter, so mix it with antifreeze for cold cold temps.

I've ridden friend's bikes that have hs33's bled with water, and they do feel really awesome. I don't do it, because I don't want to mess up my brake over time, and because I don't want to have to deal with leaks. It's almost winter too anyways, so it's only gonna get to the seals more.

i have had water for like 6 months. they started to leak because the seals were obviously getting "dry". so i took some fork spray and sprayed it into the lever and slave cylinder seals, and voila! no leaks.

water is awesome IMO. although i know a few who wont use it.

Read the above objections to water.

Unless you can front the cash for new ones, stick with oil. I have felt both, and yes there is a difference, however IMO its not worth it. Water will eventually put your brakes out of service.
