as the title says, I'm talking bike wise, not travel or enterance fee's or gear.

How much $$$ have you spent on trials?

You've got to remember kevin doesn't pay normal prices....Anyone who buys one xc bike from a local shop has spent more than anyone could spend on trials.

Yeah and if you can even add up how much you have spent, you haven't been in the game long enough.

Probably around 750 USD. I wonder how much some of you would have spent had you bought the best quality equipment from the beginning.

From what I can remember for major purchases, and minor ones that I can remember.

$100 sometime in '95 for a well used Haro Response mod bike

$800 in early '99 for a used trials set-up Santa Cruz Chameleon, from Aaron Lutze via the trials email list.

~$50 - Plazmatic CRV pads, Chameleon

$800 in March '03 for a used (but nearly new) Megamo Radical

~$50 - generic rear wheel for the Chameleon to keep it going for urban cruising and wheelie practice

~$100 - grips, disc rotor, chain, front tire for Megamo

$65 - Michelin rear tire, Megamo

~$400 - TryAll cranks, bashring, BB, W.I. trials freewheel, brake pads, and stuff, for the Megamo (from Graham)

And then all your usual assorted repair costs that go with trials. Don't know how many hangers I've bought for the Chameleon over the years, but I've only gone through three so far on the Megamo.

Yeah... there are my other two bikes...

'98 Santa Cruz Heckler full suspension, $2500 new, another $500 in major replacement parts over the years

'01 Lightning Phantom recumbent road bike, $1500 new

Unfortunately they are all gathering dust right now. Only want to ride the Megamo, and I'm waiting on the drivetrain parts for it. :squint:

oh well now that we are getting into that .... this is all in AUD, and probably not in order .

    -$1050 - First trials setup
-$70 - silent clutch hub due to destroyed hope bulb
    -$110 - HS33 and plaz
    -$110 - Kinesis fork
    -$70 - new SRAM chain
    -$90 - Koxx bar
    -$80 - 2 koxx stems(short and long)
    -$350 - Middleburns .
-$710 - Pure Frame and booster
    -$100 - FSA Ti BB
    -$240 - Hope Mini
    -$105 - Koxx Rear Rim
-$205 - New pair of michelin's(comp16 2.2 rear, HotS 2.5 front) and pedals
-$265 USD - Chris King Classic hub
    -$80 USD - King Kog (RIP OFF...shmeh)

... and then there is extra hundreds of dollars on tubes and repairs ... hmmm, thats not as much as i would have thought actually, but i dought thats all of it ... lol! xept thats over just one year riding, but i suppose ill slow down once i "perfect" my bike . Case in point... thats around $2400... Last season ALONE for me, koxx lb 1100 frame, koxx lb long mod frame, planet x zebdi full bike, monty x-lite full bike. Parts- 2 pair rf lp's, 50+ tubes, 3 michelin rear, 3 front, try-all fixed hub/rear rim whole wheel built up- stem - bar, monty bulge bar, vp pedals, 2 hs 33 rear, avid front disc, hayes mag disc, lots of grips...the list goes on and on. Granted I pay cost ($65 for a mich tire ? :ugh: ) but it makes your 9 years of spending look like pocket change :)

    haha, that is funny.

oh yea, as for the original question: more than i want to recall... upwards of $3000, which isnt all that much, but ive been riding for about a year, and when i first began, i wasted a lot of $.

About $500 on my $900 Trek to keep it going for trials. No telling how much $ has gone into tubes.

The tally on my new bike is somewhere over $1750.

I imagine Ill spend another $1700 or so in the next 2 years on a whole bike with a longer frame.

I agree with Andrew if you can even fathom how much cash has gone towards trials you have not been riding long enough. Frames alone I can think of my way old GT, Monty X stam, Brisa B20, 3 Planet X Zebdis (granted most of them were crash replacement prices) and now a Jackflash...I mean damn, thats frames alone...I cant even try to think of how many cranks I have gone through...Or tubes...chains...pedals, etc...ew....
