Well, not for sure. I knew the manager at another bike shop, and he asked me where I was working, I told him currently unemployed and he offered me a job Sunday. So, he had me go right over, to an informal interview with his boss which was at another store. Did that, and yesterday, I did the interview with the owner and manager at thier other location.

Turned out well. Turns out they JUST put the ad in the paper yesterday, and they got some faxes in, but I was the 1st person interviewed as well as the only person recomended by the other 2 managers. Supposed to get a call here today or tomorrow to get hired. They said they just wanted to get their worth out of the newspaper ad, and give the faxed resumes a shot...

Hopefully, it'll all work out well.

They seem to make decent money there. $400 a week if you work 6 days. Plus 10% of sales comission, and 50% of all labor charges for that week. And all parts $10% over cost.....

Not too shabby for workin on bicycles. No wonder the bike shop turnover rate is so damn low....

That was just what he told me...I'm not sure. Probably not once you're there for awhile, as the guys that works there have like a FLEET of bikes, which I'm sure he didn't pay 10% over cost on all of them and some parts...

Heh, I just wanna work there so I can have a shop, get a Park tool set for cheap, as well as other parts, and hopefully make some money on the side. Hours are nice 10-6 M-F, 9-6 Saturday and Sunday 11-4.....not too shabby....

I pay +10 % but our cost is usually 10% under wholesale. I get waitress pay plus 1.5 % comission.

I took home a $1700 check for 2 weeks last week. This week800 next week 600, after that the slow season will require me to work part time as a male escort .
I hate when they ask me to swallow.

Just finished work today....was pretty tight...just put a shit-ton of cruisers and and did some repairs...shot the shit in the back while listening to a bunch Thursday and some classic rock......

Shop says I have to wait atleast till payday till I can order stuff. Kinda like policy so that I'm not a hire, order parts and quit kinda person...understandable......I'm basically gonna be working for free after I buy an asston of tires, tubes, DX32's, brake pads, King stuff(cogs, tools) and a shit-ton of Park tools for home....hahaha

Park tools blow ass compared to Pedros Hozan and Var, but their still aight. I was like you when i started working at a shop, and got all excited about getting things at cost, but in reality, a lot of shit is the same price online if not cheaper, ie xtr brake levers, tubes, some tires, so make sure you do some research before spending your paycheck. sorry if i sounded like i was you dad there, but id feel bad if i didnt pass on the ancient chinese bike shop secrets

  15. Over the summer I landed quite the internship with this lead FPGA (basically processors) company (Xilinx). I was working 40hrs. a week for 8 or 9 weeks at $15/hr. Talk about BANK.

Yeah I know...tubes that are online are $2.50 or around that area....near cost for a LBS. But the benny, is that I don't have to pay shipping. If it's online for SLIGHTLY cheaper, or same price, I'll still get it from the LBScause it's free 2-day shipping:bigthumb:. Heh, my boss (which I'm not "replacing"...he just wants more free time/time off to do his real estate gig...so I'm a manager in training:bigthumb:) is all for eBay and online, cause he says alot of times, the stuff he needs is cheaper online... But if it comes down to teh total being more because of shipping, he'll just order from the shop....LOL, now THAT'S thrifty.....
