Found this north of town just over one month ago. I got about 10 minutes of riding on it before my chain snapped and then my freewheel exploded. Four weeks later I have the bike going again, time to head back there. Just stopped by today on the way home from work for a quick picture. Most of the rocks will probably be over my current skill level, but I have just over one mile of this to work on. Oh, and the tide is all the way in, usually there's 50-100' of packed sand beach down there.
I'm planning on riding there after work tomorrow. I'll get some pics with the bike on the rocks for some better visual scale. Hopefully the water will be lower and I can get some pics from the beach. (still a bit of a storm surge right now) Just got a digital camera last weekend, time to put it to good use. (Canon A70)
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm tasty gr, i need to find some awesme spots like that around h ere, luck ybastard
These rocks are out of the water 98% of the time. That's about the highest the water gets, unless its during a storm (we just had a good one go through yesterday). Quick glance most of the rocks look to be a sandstone type. There are some narsty sharp volcanic ones though. Same as barnacles there, great traction but slice you right open. More pics coming tomorrow night.
Where is Ventura? I get out to Cali every now and then during the year... Althought those rocks look like they'll sodomize me.
Are you driving yet or still taking the train/bus everywhere? Los Altos right? This is west cliff in santa cruz. Breaker rocks are awesome and I usually go here to ride when I'm in the bay, nice and cool and theres always hot chicks running around.
Nikolai... Nikolai... Hmmm... Did you make it to one of the Fontana comps last year? I remember a Nikolai at one of them. Ended up doing a ride-off, I think.
no im still riding/ taking the bus everywhere :ugh: my parents are willing to take me to stanford often, but theres no way in hell they'll just drive around aimlessly looking for good natural. that spot does look pretty tasty, but im not sure if i am able to much on them, they look pretty techy
Got out there today for an hour after work. I am REALLY going to like this spot. Definitely going to improve my riding skills. Here's another pic, basically the same, but with the bike in for scale. Oh, and did I mention that I have over 1 mile of these?
A mile of those rocks? hmmm.. After a while I'd get bored. Then again, you can always mix it up and do something you've never done before. And the scenery! kickass.
my XTP wants to forcibly rape those rocks in their ass. edit: nay, VIOLENTLY rape those rocks... In the ear.
Ah yes, the scenery. Going to have some great chances for sunset photography if I keep going there after work. Tonight's sunset: (fairly crappy one too)
