Hey, I'm not done getting the photos processed and page made for the group rides section, but i figured i'd share a few pics that probably won't make it into the page.

Left to right: Kevin, Andrew, Dolphin:

The light was getting dim and Dolphin told me he wanted me to take a few pics at high iso (which is the reason for all the noise) because he likes the effect they have on a black and white photo. Heres the result at 1600iso:

Same(ish) pic as above, but with Andrew:

As the sun went down and there were ducks on the water, I thought this would make a nice shot:

Look for the rest of the pics in the group ride section within 24 hours.

cool pics matt, whats iso?
iso is the equivalent to the speed of the film in a film camera.

Basically, the higher the ISO, the more sensitive it is to incoming light. This means that if you want to freeze the motion in a dimly lit room, and you've already opened your lense all the way to let all the available light in, your next course of action would generally be to up the ISO so the sensor (the thing that captures the image) is more sensitive to the available light, thereby creating a bright photo, even with a faster shutter speed.

The only problem with this is that everything gives off light, including your camera and yourself (and I don't only mean light in the visible light spectrum). Your camera is producing infrared light, and the more sensitive you make your sensor, the more sensitive it will be to that (very low amount of) infrared light its giving off. This is why the images are so noisy, because it's capturing light from itself, you, your surroundings, whatever.

Hopefully this makes sense to you.... if not, ask a more specific question about it :).

Yeah, Ty and Dave showed up. I did a few new moves. I broke a chain toward the end, and called it a day. Now my neck is killing me! I can barely type without pain!

Welp, I didn't really want them posted, but it is going to be a bit longer now that one of my 160gb hdds crashed with about 115gb of stuff on it. I've got most of it recovered to another drive, but this whole thing is a clusterfuck.

I'll still get the group ride section updated with the pics.
