Brakes too noisy, they're starting to annoy the neighbours.

Well, I was out practicing my pedal kick the other day when a guy from the apartment building behind my house screamed: "Stop using those fucking brakes you bastard!". So I left and I practiced some flatland trials tricks infront of my house in the street where he couldn't hear me.

I really don't like annoying people, so is there a way to reduce the noise my brakes make? I'm currently running some Koxx bloxx on a grind. Any ideas?

you could angle your brake pads inwards and then they wouldn't make noise. But that would be the stupidest thing you could do as Maggies are designed to be parralel to the rim not to mention how much braking power you would lose from that. Basically don't do anything to your brakes.

Squeeking is a trials noise, and if they don't squeek then your brakes don't work. So you will have to go somewhere else to practice or tell the guy to shut his hole so you can concentrate on praciticing!!

Practice on natural, where only the birds and small woodland creatures are privy to your trials noises.

grease and tri-flow on your rims will get rid of the squeel. there is no such thing as brakes that are too loud. if they are working, dont fuss with them. your neighbors will learn to deal.

wtf...people complaining over a brake noise??? It ain't a damn alarm. Plus it's not like you're destroying a property.

Welp, Koxx bloxx are definitely loud. Try some plazmatic CRM pads. They will give close to the same grip and are normally very quiet. They may act up and squeak at times, but they're normally good.

the two riders around here who have bloxx, one on a good grind, the other on a crazy harsh grind, both have completely silent brakes all the time. the brakes have tons of bite, and a huge amount of lock power, so theyre not silent because theyre not working. my brakes are loud all the time, when they work good. the quieter they get, the more i have to compensate for them getting less strong. except for times every now and then when they make no noise and worked awesome. weird.

v's with ground rims are silent too.

Keep on riding and making noise, your neighbours sound rude and abusive. They should shut up and f*ck off.

thats what mine are like, minus the more noise less brake part. ive got koxx bloxx with a medium grind usually, if its not completely worn. and they dont make any noise at all, unless im doing something really big or just feathering them. my cousins CRM's however are extremely noisy, on the same grind. oh well, whatever works i guess.

While this topic is back at the top I would also like to suggest annoying your neighbour more. If people are going to get mad at you whether you're good or bad, why not be bad, same treatment, but way more fun.

I suggest yelling back something like
"...yeah, and how about you stop breathing asshole?"

    or alternatively
"..come on there's no need for that.. you yelling down here is making more noise than my brakes could possibly make, you oxygen bandit"

    or
do like matt said and get Plaz pads. Works for me, no noisy neighbours yet brakes work good. And pads have lasted me >2 years

Well, I'll just keep on riding and use my trusty middle finger.

My mom said that if the guys screams again, to tell him that he can call the cops if he wants. It's not illegal what I'M doing
