My friend, who is a very good rider, complains about how trials is a lot tougher for shorter riders. He's not that short, though, about 5'7. But everytime we are watching a trials video, he becomes amazed at some crazy move, then he talks about how tall the guy is. Yea, he's probably making some excuse as to why he cant pull the same move, but is there any truth in this? Are there any short guys who are world class trials riders? I'd like to show him the video. Thanks.
ummm most of the european riders are short, most of the good aussie riders down here are short if anything being short looks like a good thing for trials! pav
tall riders can do bigger moves, but that alone doesnt make a good trials rider. But yeah your friend is right, taller riders can theoretical go higher (sidehop, bunnyhop, front taps)
marc caisso is the best example of a short rider who kicks tons of ass. heres a link to some trials videos in france, a lot of them have caisso in it. just clikc wherever it says telecharger le video. http://www.trial-magazine.com/principal/vtt/vtt.htm also download some koxx days 2003 videos from http://www.trialsworld.com. and just google marc caisso and you might find more vids and stuff. edit: forgot to say he's like 5'4" or less too. not sure his actual height..
I am 5'5" and I can't do any big moves but then again I haven't been doing trials for long or maybe its a combination of both. I really don't know. :dunno: No matter what its always fun :joshers:
Being taller certainly makes ups easier...however technical skills, the only important thing, are blind to your height.
kevin is like an asian midget guy... super good rider. super good. actually, all asians..like andrew said..technical ability is blind to your area of origin and height
im tiny magee on my 1080... but for an asian im practically a giant! grraarrrr! marc cassio is only like 5'2" on his toes i think but i have seen him do amazing slaps/lunges/hooks and his techincal skills are unbelievable... hes super tiny. nelson reis is also an amazing rider who is super small- i've seen him sidehop to pedal higher than he is tall...
bad generalization, because of :robbie pfunder, TRA. on a lower level of tallness: AndrewT, Coustellier (im sure they are 5'10-6'2, in there somewhere) you must be speaking about yourself there josh, and i dont even consider myself a "rider" so...
Short riders are at a significant disadvantage while attempting to pick up chicks, hence the negative attitudes.
