BAD idea from what I hear. I was just talking to Kevin about this a day or two ago and I get the impression the security there are NAZIS. But perhaps this is just a rumor that has always kept people away, so who knows. Go try, get busted, let us know...
Anyone ever ride DU?
What's the deal with riding this campus? Are the cops an issue? I'm thinking that most of the students are gone for the break, so I was going to try ride there Thurs night.

I've jibbed with some DH bikes in the past. You have to constantly keep moving (as if you're headed to class) to make any use of it. I've never worked trials there, but from what I hear you're asking for a bit of trouble. The guys at the Denver Spoke (two blocks away) have been told by DU NOT to let customers take and test ride bikes there. They also have said that the cops at DU are nazis and have zero tolerance. Its also a destination given that area. So, if you do get kicked off or want to find something off campus, you'll be driving there.

anyhoot- i used to ride there all the time on my squishy bike before the new reich came to power there- and the only reason i would ride that bike there is because it was a much better gettaway vehicle than a trials rig. they will not give warnings there. if you want to see what the back seat of a cop car looks like ride the du campus- that's how i got to sit back there. considering what there is to ride there i would say dont waste your time. i havent ridden trials there since i was on a white planet x... over a year and a half ago and i dont miss a single thing about the place.
there is better urban to ride downtown and there is little to nothing natty there aside from one fountain with a few rocks in it usually covered in snow and ice.
the last thing anyone needs is more trespassing tickets.
Patrick- if you ever want to hit it up let me know, I'm fast on my brakeless bmx bike (although cars and sharp turns pose problems).

i jibbed a dog then i went on a walk around the block and when i came back i jibbed a tree and then went on a mozy to the laundramat and when i came back i jibbed up some eggs for breakfast, and thats what i get for waking up at 4:00 AM
its nothing against you- its really against thor wixom for perhaps the douchiest intro to a movie ever.. jib was a great vid, i really enjoyed it... i could have completely dont without the crap in the beignning though. for such a talented photographer and film maker, thor just shot himself in the foot with that crap about "well there are no mountains involvedso lets called it something i took from snowboarding- jibbing" well guess what there arent any snowboards involved either.... urban/street/tech/freeride... any of these work much better than jib. jib pisses me off almost as much as "hella"

as for being the worst mtn bike movie ever... no it wasnt. match 2 wasnt all that hot. pedalfiles wanst very great. rubber side down i didnt care for at all. there have been much shittier flicks made than jib.

I own jib and have watched it less then 10 times. (I serioulsy can't even guess the # of times I've seen the grommits). I don't think I will ever watch it again.

You guys crack me up. Call it what you want. Its too bad there's not a general word for it. I thought the word 'jib' was just someone's attempt to sum it all up.
It is sad to see that some people don't like and rag on this film. I enjoyed it, but only because it was probably the first movie I've viewed with this type of riding since I got back into mtn biking/street/trials/metro/whatever.... So, the movie somewhat inspired me to get back onto the 'metro' scene.
I've been riding Urban/Urban Assault/Street/Jumps/groms/metro/trials since 1988. Besides the few Trials people I knew, I didn't see anyone riding street back in the late 80's early 90's. Regardless, I don't get worked up on someones attempt to capture all the above riding into one word. We called it Metro Mucking... We cosnidered the terms above as:
Street = Road bikes downtown
Urban or Urban mtn biking = Riding your mtn bike downtown on the roads
Trials = well, trials
Jib = The front sail of a sailboat
Metro = mucking around on anything a downtown scene has to offer.
But hey, what's in a term?
Personally, I don't give a S**t. However, I think snowboarders that are 'jibbing' look like absolute she-donkeys.
One thing that this scene is missing... An underground metro mtn biking race that has a specific course. Neither the Trials nor the xc / freeride bikes have an advantage.... anyone game?
