I know most of you run 170's, but why? Longer crank arms should give you more leverage, making the gears easyer. Short cranks give less space between flat spots (which dont really matter with many eng. points) and they also provide a closer, more stable platform. Sort cranks also give slightly less flex. Do any of you run 165mm? Thanks Steffen
The 170's are used as kind of a compromise, between the 175's leverage, and the 165's ease of spinning. At least thats what I have been told. I can't stand 165's or smaller, just not enough leverage.
My Bonz are 165.....feel REaLLY short stroked compared to my Profiles. Gearing has compensated for me...well, so far it has
175s here. Couldn't tell the diff from 165s, granted I adjust gear ratio depending on crank length...I have long legs, makes longer cranks more comfortable.
well I'v got short legs for my hight (5 foot 8inch ish) and I"m stoked on my 175s you can kick up steep stuff on back wheel with regular gearing(22-19 or 20-17) without losing top speed matt
I went from 170 to 165 and I like the 165 better. Like u said with ur feet being closer together. In reality, like in most things trials, 5mm isn't going to make a real difference. So the choice is yours.
