TN comp photos

These are the pics of the Pro/Expert riders at the TN comp. Hopefully other people will post there pictuers as well to get a better coverage of the comp. Since it was pretty dark because of the dense leaves the photos are not too spectacular. That was the toughest comp I have ever been too. There were quite a few wrecks because the stones were really mossy and slick. In all it was a pretty nice comp with BBQ at the end. Props to Mike Friddel for organizing the comp and also thanks to Jen for taking the pictures.

Lagerhead: you better post your videos too

Yeah the comp was very technical to say the least. Watching the crash section of the competion video that Felix posted, reminded me of the TN comp.

yea, thats me, but in my defense, i was merely removing my boxxers from my ass crack, because i figured since andy had 5'ed every section and was having a crappy day, it wasnt going to be more than 5 seconds until andy fell in that water, and someone was gonna hafta save him, and lets face it, who can swim well with something stuck up their ass....... not me

by far the hardest competition i have been to. the uci world rounds in vail were easier to get through the sections than this competition was. if the rocks were grippy it would have been a lot more do-able. all too often when i was setting up to preload my bike would slide out from underneath me. overall a very fun and challenging competition.

ryder has been gone since the co spring event.

ryan cecil is the shizzle. he needs to go to the school of biz-naz at cu so he can school everyone around here.

Hey guys,

Yeah that was my comp. Sorry for making it so difficult. I know it was pretty slippery but I really tried to put the sections on the grippiest parts. Hopefully, Ryan's and Steidley's scores prove that the sections were actually possible. I tried to avoid the cliche, super-big, scary moves to concentrate more on uber technical stuff. I guess I went a little too far.

I'm doing the writeup now so it, the results and my pics should be on NATrials.com whenever Pete gets a chance to upload them, probably tomorrow.

Not only did Ryder drive all the way there, but he even left his car running the entire time so he could sit in the a/c. If you have ever been in the southeast in the summer you would understand why Ryder spent so much time in his car.

I personally loved the high humidity and slippery rocks. I was riding sport stock/mod and the sections made me ride smoother then usual. With everything being so slippery the riders were forced to ride very smoothly and focus on little technical moves.

A few of us stuck around Sunday to get one more taste of the pleasant weather. The sections seemed to be worse then Saturday because of all of the mud that got tracked onto the rocks, but it was a good time. I attempted to ride some Expert sections just to remind myself that they were over my head. Even though I did not do well on them, I thought they were laid out well.

The sections were good and overall the event ran very smoothly. I also liked the medals because they had all the vitals (place, date, location, class). It was a good comp and I will be there again next year as long as it fits into my schedule.

Chuck, thanx for the comments. I really appreciate it.

On the smoothness issue, that's something I was surprised more people didn't get. I realize a lot of trials riders are more "urban" nowadays but I would have thought that at least the Pros would be able to cope. I think we can all agree that Ryan Cecil is one of the smoothest US riders and look how his score reflects it.

By the way, if anyone was wondering, the 20" and 26" bikes rode the EXACT same sections.

Tim Finn is one of the smoothest Pros out there. I think getting second after having a flight cancelled the night before, not getting to the comp until late in the afternoon, no practice, riding sections that had already been wetted and mudded out from the days riding, and doing 12 sections in a little over an hour is pretty damn good.
Congratulations to Steidley as well. It should be very interesting to watch those two fight it out for the NATS title in Seven Springs, Pa. and Colorado.
