Frame Porn

A recreate of a 1999 Hoffman Condor. I did this for a friend of mine. He went a little crazy with the slotting of material, not necessarily something I would do for a customers frame. Notice the insane 64* seat tube angle, not sure why the condor was like that, but it is.

Old condor: 6.8lbs
RCP condor geo: 4.3lbs

Hey xxxfr .... Nice build - Did you throw this one at jupiter? LOL.

Anyway, got a question for you - do you turn your own head-tubes? If so, what lathe do you own (size, etc.)? and which one would your recommend?

I appreciate all the help!

That looks sick. Maybe Mat liked his seat back a little more for pinching the seat with his knees...?

That's possible. And no, I do not turn my own head tubes. I do machine them open in the front though.

I cant see taking the time to turn them myself when 4130, usa made head tubes cost me $4 to $25

Looks choice.

Why does he want the old-school geo? Is he putting old bits on it?

Nope. Just the bike he grew up riding. I dunno, I still miss my mk1 planet x pitbull, if I could find accurate measurements I would rebuild one for myself.

Would love to see some more high res photos of bmxs that you've made. Definitely a consideration for another custom bmx frame, seeing as FBM aren't producing customs any more.

Thats the only 20" I've made. They are not high on my list of frames to do, mostly because the majority of bmx riders are cheap fucks. I don't know what FBM was charging, but if its something your seriously interested let me know what a custom frame goes for and if its something reasonable I will do another one.

Anyway, here's some pics.

Thanks man, looks good. Interesting parts list there. Welds are tidy

As for a frame, it's something i will keep in mind for the future. I've had a few custom frames and parts. Am trying to support the small custom companies and the original bmx guys as well. Another custom bmx is definitely on the cards sometime in the future.

I think FBM's price started at $400, S&M is now $550 (had thought it was more than that), i imagen Standard must be around $600, have no idea about how much Solid's cost. Here in the UK we have no custom frame builders for trials/bmx that i'm aware of which is a shame. Maybe Curtis, but not really heard that name passed around online or anywhere in recent years.

Thanks for your time!

cut outs so dumb.

I hate that my bike has a pinch bolt system, the cut out makes dust and dirt and water get in and falls on top of the bottom bearing making pre-mature use,the say on a full sealed closed ht.

you can just tape off the cutout, or put a picture of a penis over it to keep it clean.

Cool thing about custom frames is the customer gets to pick what he wants, within reason. Just like your choice to be a flaming douche bag in every post.

Here's the latest one that I am finishing up. This one is getting raffled off for breast cancer awareness.

hey, i think your work is looking great, can I ask a bunch of questions? is that a wide BB shell? is it to get the CS/tire clearance without dimpling? what is the rear DO spacing? what is the headset standard? who made the drop outs? why build something custom for a random end user?

thanks for sharing!
