I raced xc for 10 years and followed the industry pretty closely, but I've learned far more about bikes since I joined the trials community. I think it's basically because there is no industry support for trials so we're still in the Wild West since the 90s. It sux if you're the kind of person who wants to go to a shop, have choices, buy a complete bike and be able to get it fixed at any shop. But if you're really a trials rider - no. 1 your micromanagement skills are off the chart, no. 2 you are capable of intense focus and determination to gain less than an inch, and no. 3 you're gay. Real trials is a very intimate brotherhood (especially in the US!).

You're entitled to your opinion but it's wrong.

don't give up! those LBGTQR7 folks always want us to think they are more than a tiny fraction of the population. BTW I love that they added a Q to that acronym

I remember back in the good old days you could bring a bmx rig to a mtb event, jump rocks, drink redbull, and have your tongue up another guy's ass all before 7:30 pm

There was no redbull in the good old days. We did it all with marijuana, coke and beer.
