Central Colorado Bike Trials - April 14&15
Comp on Sat April 14th, group ride Sunday April 15th in the afternoon. Location is Buena Vista, along the river. Camping may be allowed right at the site, but if that doesn't get approved there are spots to camp for free around town, and a number of commercial campgrounds.
For the comp we'll have 2 levels for beginner class (beginner A & B), sport, expert, and pro class. Pro will have a modest purse, certainly 100% pro payback and hope to boost it a bit. $20 entry for all classes, $15 for kids 15 yrs old or younger, $50 max entry cost for families.
Every rider is expected to be available to help with scoring for the alternate classes.
Hoping for some experienced riders to ride Sunday afternoon with the kids group Sunday afternoon and get a bit of a clinic in as well as hang out and ride, but we'll be planning to do one of our rides Sunday and hope to have lots of guest riders.
In case of getting snowed out, the alternate date is May 12th.
More info later,
Chris

I'm going to request for the town to allow camping at the site but it's an area where camping isn't normally allowed so they'll have to make an exeption. I'll play up that it's off season but may have to camp in other nearby spots. We can probably arrange free camping at a couple spots or plenty of public land around.

I'm rockin' the suburban so we should have plenty of space. i think the rack will hold 4 bikes plus we can fit one or two inside if needed.
But actually, when are you wanting to leave? I don't get off work until 5 friday and couldn't leave until 7pm friday at the earliest.

I'm going to try to make this. I have already been looking into camping in the area and there's a lot. It would be great if everybody that's camping could settle on the same place, wherever it ends up being. I'll probably try to make a weekend out of it if I can and drive down on Friday afternoon, back on Sunday afternoon. My other half (Kimberly) will be coming with me, so I'll have to meet everyone down there. The only catch for me at this point, is that I have a possible climbing/canyoneering thing in Moab and riding in Fruita right around the same time. I have to figure out how to lace everything together or figure out which events to cut.

I'm waiting to hear from Cris to know if it will be possible to camp at the trial site. If its not availiable camping with other local trials riders at a nearby campsite would be fun. I'm planning to leave Denver friday afternoon and stay thru midday sunday. I am open to carpool and camp if someone wants to. I have a popup camper i will be bringing. It has a queen size bed and a single bed. There is also room to sleep in my van. My van has two seats in front and there is room behind them for two folding chairs. I live in Wheat Ridge near Wadsworth and 29th ave.

I'm still going to be in school at this time but I will see what I can do the closer we get. I don't have classes on Fridays and depending on what my schedule is next quarter I may not have a class on Monday. I will know in the next few weeks if that is the case.
The fact that this is only 2.5 hours away from Denver really helps. No offense, Durango peeps, but hop on 285 and you're there!?...and I'll be there if things align.
Liter, I could probably pick you up. And I'll have all Friday to do so. The prolbem is the ride home...if I have class on Monday and I took you home we'd have to leave hella early on Sunday.
Lets all keep eachother updated so we can try to work together and get everyone who wants to be there, there.
P.S. I will be taking my truck which is an 11 ft. flatbed. I could carry anyone's bike and anything else (camping shit)...like 2 tons worth of shit, literally. Unfortunately, only room for one passenger. That's where Butter's Suburban comes into play, haha.

Yeah I'd like to go, and of course carpool. Daytrip or overnight? Adrienne probably wants to go too.

Make it overnight so you can ride Sunday as well. You'll get totally energized by over a dozen mini sized trials riders being out there. Sounds like lots of interest, so I'll look into using BLM land across the river for some variety for e/p. If we get shot down on camping at the site I can look into options for one spot. I'm about 12 miles from town but have room for plenty of well behaved campers if nothing closer works out.
Either way it should be worth the drive. If you have buddies considering trials bring them along and get them hooked.

is the plan for both the comp and the sunday ride to in the afternoon? I'm trying to establish if it worth it to get there really late fri. or get up early and leave sat. morning. Either way i am coming back sunday no later than 1 or 2. that sound like it fits into anyone's plan?

Planning on signups (for all classes) from 9-10 am Sat, Beginner/sport ride first, Ex/Pro start around 1-2. For Sunday it's open for riding whenever and if we can get a couple higher level riders to stick around I'd like to do a clinic type thing for 1-2 hours starting at 1 on Sunday.
Our local group is now 19 riders (added a 3rd grader at our ride yesterday), only 4 adults (but 2 more dads are waiting on bikes). My brother is planning on bringing at least 4 kids with him, so should be a good oportunity to pass on some trials knowlege and do a bit of a give back to the sport thing for an hour or two for the clinic.
I'll mention again that we'll have a beginner B class for raw beginners, so bring the guys/gals on the fence about riding.

I don't have class until noon on Monday so I think I'll be able to participate and hang out the whole time and leave Sunday evening after everything has wrapped up.
Mike, I think I'll be able to give you a ride if you still want. Just under 500 miles (total trip mileage for me) at 20 mpg at just under $4/g means diesel money divided in half would be $50 max. So if someone else is willing to give you a ride in something with better economy...you could pay less (or not at all, but I can't afford that).
