i'm from san jose and have been riding with a group the last couple Wednesdays at Stanford at 8pm, the group is mixed with some trialsers and some urban MTBers

hmmm, that sounds alot more interesting than the normal embarcadero 4 ledge ride that I usually miss.

Maybe I'll show up for the stanford one instead.

That is a long ass way to drive to ride 2 hours at Stanford

Not discouraging you, but you might want to save Stanford for a weekend when you can pair it up with Half Moon Bay.
