Is there a difference between these? My Hope Mini says it needs 5.1 but all I can find at the stores around here is 5.0. Would 5.0 work?

My mini's say either dot 4 or 5.1. Why not use 4? I doubt there is much difference between 5.1 and 5. I certainly wouldn't worry about it.

Watch out for the DOT fluid and the paint :)

yeah, mine says that too, but i think the 5.1 is suppose to be better or something, and I already bought the 5.0 so I wouldnt have to go back if this would work. Yeah, i wouldnt want to mess up the Lamboghini Orange

Im pretty sure the difference is in the temperatures the fluids tolerate... might be viscosity but 5.0 wouldnt be much different than 5.1 in anyway.

i just found out that 5.1 and 5.0 are completey different, 5.0 is synthetic and 5.1 is glycol which is what DOT 3 and DOT 4 is. 5.1 would also give it a crazy mushy feeling.

i think 5.1 has a subwoofer. 5.0 doesnt.

i donno but it makes a huge difference because when you go to front o na log your disc will build up incredible head and disintigrate lower grades of brake fluid.

DOT is qui teexpensive, you hsould try using Citroen brake fluide. Most of french riders use it for Magura Brakes --> not expensive and it's almost the same thing than DOT. South riders sometimes use water, but i don't think that's a good idea (no temperature under 0°C that's for sure !)

Dont all maguras use Mineral oil? Doesnt make much sense to me. On another note bambwe, where can i find french vids, trials vids, i know of nopogo but that's it.

the french trials riders wouldn't use a DOT type fluid for long, it would kill the seals after a short time. The number codes for DOT fluids are misleading, 5 vs 5.1 is a big difference, 5.1 vs. 4 is not a big difference. Stick to what the manufacturer recommends, don't stray from it unless you REALLY know a lot about DOT.

Oh no, a rhyme, a hellish crime.

If he isn't stopped, I fear caps be popped.
