I would like to know what you think of this :

I order an echo bike in December 03 ( yes, 2003 ) and paid it the 22 of december 2003, at austrialshop ( austrialshop.com )


well they had some trouble with Echo, that's a fact. But I still have nothing !
so , I'm waiting for 11 months now...

What should I do ?

They didn't reply to me since 1 months ( previously they told me this : " sorry... soon my friend " )

What do you think ? did I do something wrong ?

You just need to give them an ultimatum(SP.?) I'd go in there, or call them. Tell them your frustrations, and also advise them that you're aware of your rights as a consumer. There is no reason why you should be out of your money for this long. In the end, it is you, THE CUSTOMER that is right in this situation. At the very least, I'd expect to get your bike at wholesale just for the ungodly wait you've endured, that is if you chose to wait for the bike. Personally I'd get my cash back, even if it takes legal action, and shop elsewhere from this day forward. It's not like they're being cool to you, they're rooking you because it seems like you'll take the abuse, let them know that you're tired of waiting, and that you KNOW they're wrong on this issue. Also, don't fall for some lame ass non-refundable deposit or anything like that. Get your money back, or your bike if you chose so, and demand it no, not whenever it arrives. I've been in the retail side of the bicycle industry for over ten years straight now, and there are things that can be done if they'd really want to take care of you. Good luck buddy, and don't be a push-over!!

Definately check it out. There were alot of legitimate concerns voiced not long ago (read cousts in Oz post), and there were some valid reasons given. This however, would really piss me off big time. But before we fly off the handle, wait and see what Peace comes up with. He'll help get you sorted.

I got mine in the first shipment, which arrived no problems, and was sent out no problems, very quickly after ordering and payment. Mine was the first actually, in Australia, anyway he had customs and other assorted troubles with the second order which are all a bit mysterious, and he also misplaced a lot of customer information in that time due to a technology disaster of some sort. He does need to be reminded sometimes, and he does have more optimism than is often due, you have to say what he says with a grain of salt unfortunately. Having said that I've had nothing but good experiences with the guy, just judging on other people's word here.

and failing any action on his part, I should have a 1060 pure available soon enough, if Will in Canberra doesn't want it, then I can loan it to anyone in Australia I guess. I don't sell things, you never know when you might need them again :-)

Here in colorado most warranty echo parts through factionbike take a month or two, frames a bit longer- but if graham has them in stock he will just send what he has to you immediately and wait for the replacement parts himself. :bigthumb:

If you cut it down to just the echo products it might be quicker, Dan seems like the sort of guy who wants to do everything for you, but of course it is difficult to get things at wholesale sometimes if you're not a "real" bike dealer.

For other people, he waits around until every last thing is available, down to the last chainring bolt, before he sends the package out. Even if it takes 8 months to get that last chainring bolt.

k i spoke to him 2 days ago, by no means is he going to run off with your money. But the mistake he made was trying to get ALL the non echo parts for you... he has the frame and most of the components just still waiting on a few....

Hes workin 2 jobs now, sold his ute, doin his best to clean the slate. I know no one really has sympathy but he has been goin through a lot of shit (deaths family & friend) So i guess sometimes when it rains, it can really pour! But i just want ppl to rest assured, stefan will get his goods and dan aint gonna bail on him. He has also refunded Pav & a Mate for forks because he has no more to warrant them with, yes money out of his own pocket.

It was a little cold I suppose, but I have had it happen to me, my 4 best mates died in a plane crash a few years ago, it sucks but you cope. The point I was trying to make is that your personal life hasnt, and shouldnt have, any effect on business dealings. Although I do understand.

Spoke to him today, he is busy as heck working 2 jobs and doesnt have time to get to an internet cafe to come on here and post. So he asked me to come on and tell you guys that he is dealing with Stefan privately (the way it should always be done) and is really doing his best to get everything done! Enough bashin on him.

Also to compensate the guy for taking so long, he is upgrading the rear hub to a king! and a few other bits and bobs on the bike.

Also just got news that Chris Akrigg MIGHT be staying with him early next year, yes that means he may come to port elliot!, That WONT happen if people keep talkin shit about him. 1 Year! If you can read english ok try looking at the site I linked for you. I'm pretty sure when you paid him he was living in Queensland (QLD) that is the link for the QLD fair trading. There is one in every state, have a look at the site. It outlines how the dispute process works,

You need to write a formal letter otlining what you expected , what you paid and all the relevant dates(when you paid him, when you've contacted him etc). You need to put what you expect (eg a bike ASAP) and a deadline to reply in writing (try 14 days) If he doesn't reply in writing by that date you can refer the matter to fair trading and they will try to chase Dan for you.

I do not post here very often but this is getting out of hand.

Dan's first Echo shipment was done properly. He bought some bike frames, then sold them. Unfortunatly after this is where he went downhill. He accepted full payment for shit, way before making an order, bought a ute, drove 3823890km in it, basicly spent all his money before he had even made the echo order, then suddenly discoverd he didnt have enough money to make the order. Oh shit. He made the order, people continued to pay upfront and make orders, he over extended himself, people that couldnt do shit about it, ie Neil in WA and Stefan in New Caladonia, for example, were exploited. I know for a fact dan has had echo pures complete even in the order later. Why didnt he send one of those to stefan and put whoever else was waiting on the waiting list since stefan had already been waiting 6 months. Well the reason is, stefan is in new caledonia, he cant do anything but trust dan.

Despite what every one says about dans dad being a lawyer, so the fuck what? Threatining stefan with "dans dad is a lawyer" crap is childish and stupid. Um actually while I am not best of mates with Dan or You I do know you both as you know me. So yes we have met already as we will again and again and again for as long as we both ride trials.

Anything that effects trials in australia effects me as it does all riders especially those who are out there trying to build up the sport while some people due to their "slackness" as you put it bring a bad name to the sport and make it harder for importers and others in the sport.

We have had to build up a relationship with the companies we import from Overseas and some took years to get the goods on credit. No one should ever send goods without pre payment on the very first order, its just asking to be taken advantage of.

dude, selling stuff internationally, on credit, to people you've not dealt with before and who have no market reputation requires some serious balls or stupidity. Selling stuff domestically on credit to unknown persons is very different - the law, the language, the police and the fair trading commission are all on your side.

Yes it is common in the same country, ALL of our suppliers send to us on credit. Seriously learn to read, all that im saying is that supplying an importer of you product into another country for the FIRST (did you read that?) yes FIRST time, you should ALWAYS receive payment before you send the goods, otherwise it is SOOO easy for them to do a runner. Unless they become a good importer and sell lots and lots of your product then you still shouldnt send out of credit, and you MUST get them to fill out a credit application first, so you atleast have their details, along with referrals.

Joe got a caisso down here and he ordered it and got it like 4 days later from overseas. That was NOT running through the company or importer, through company and importer should be alot quicker. If business accounts and personal accounts were kept seperate there would not be any problems with refunds or anything. I dont know about dans accounts 100% but from the way it is it seems like its all one big one and once the money is in he does what he likes with it. Still peace, you can not say this long for a bike is not bad, I could go to a metal works course and learn how to make one and build one quicker. I check on machining courses, 8 weeks at box hill tafe too.

I waited about 5 months or more for insurance to come through for my stolen PX, by the end of it, I was drawing pictures of bikes at work, and it was about all I could think of.

I love almost everyone, but this just sucks. Then we may have a bitch, but at least things would get a little more settled for Stefan and Dan.
