What type of bike are you getting?

i am getting a trials frame from soul cycles (doesnt have a name i dont think). its gonna have ck hubs and a dx-32 rear rim and a dm-24 front rim. avid sd7 brakes (till i can afford my avid mech disc front and ultimate V rear). and most of the other stuff is just gonna be average joe stuff i think.

geometry specs?

its like a 1075 wheelbase, 385 chainstays, 10-9" seatube(i forget), price is pretty good, under 450 i think

origianlly it was going to be super fucked up with like 500mm chainstays and like a 15" seatube, but thanks to my wonderufl ideas, chad the owner changed it up, shouldbe a good frame

haha. so it was your ideas huh? i have spent a lot of time talking to chad about those changes lol. the frame will be a bit cheaper for me, but ya, thats about the jist of it.

also, i dont think it was that out of proportion. the original design i believe had 405mm stays (as opposed to 385), still a 1075mm wheelbase, 290mm seat tube (as opposed to 240)...something along those lines.

the only thing that bugs me about the design is that i cant get it with a seat! (i know you are all probably like why would you want a seat!?!). i wanted a seat because i have to ride to get to trials spots where i live and personally, i dont think a bike looks complete without one! thats just me though.

I was looking at this frame as well. They sent me a drawing of the frame, nice fat ovalized downtube, canti and disc mounts. Here's the specs that I have : 71 deg. head angle, 1065 wb, 390 stays, 10" seatube. Great deals on components as well. The lack of seat option has me bummed, leaning towards a Pure at this point.

1065 wheelbase? 390 stays? how long ago did you get that drawing?

I think they sent it to me in Sept. sometime. Maybe the specs have been updated, I like the ones you listed. Are they still going to have an urban hardtail ? That may be better suited for me as an all around bike.

ummm i just emailed chad to find out the latest specs for the trials frame and as for urban stuff. for 2005, they are going to have the titan and the mountain-x frames that might fit the bill if your looking for an urban hardtail. oh, i almost forgot. they are making a true temper urban bike as well i believe! youd have to talk to chad about em though as he obviously knows more than i do.

as for your specs that you mentioned for the trials bike, i hope your wrong cuz id rather have the longer wheelbase as i am pretty tall.

yea i got a feeling it was a group of ppls ideas....because i know that i had a big hand it also

ridesoul

it was. soul cycles is dedicated to making what the riders want so pretty much all of their frames are influenced by what the riders suggest. i think this is a great thing!

ok here is the scoop on the geometry for the trials frame. this is the final production geometry (got it straight from chad just yesterday). wheelbase: 1060, seat tube length: 240mm, chainstay length: 390mm, head tube angle: 71 degrees. bb height: +10mm.

i wish they had decided to go with the longer wheelbase cuz i am fairly tall, but ah well.

As far as the seat option goes, you wont even notice it after a month or so, and its good for your legs! Ive ridden for the last year without a seat, I ride sometimes 2 k's or more to riding spots, and dont notice it at all. That said, seats are sometimes very handy, all im saying is dont let it put you off your purchase if its a good deal.

oh dont worry. im getting it regardless! im actually also gonna get a seated version of the frame if they eventually come out with one! then i can swap em out when i want.

About the seat option..... Don't bother with finding a frame with a seattube.... I used to be just like you, when i was looking for a stock frame, i was only going to get one with a seattube so i could ride places far away... And i didnt think a stock without a seat was right... I was just like you..

But now, after ive gotten into trials pretty hardcore and gotten fairly good at it, I could care less if it had a seatpost, i actually want a frame without one now... If you buy one with seat option, you won't care after a couple months of riding and you will forget it was there to use... just fuck the seat option..
