That's pretty cool - a bike for $1000 with avid mech/vee setup, looks to be pretty high BB, short stays.... without seeing actual geo specs, that looks like it'd be a sweet bike to start out on - the parts list makes sense - good job to norco on making the evolve, well, do just that.

Peace
09-01-2004, 06:31 PM
hahaha thats fucking awesome!! you know why....?
IT HAS VEEEEES!!!!! id take this over my gay magura dedicated pitbull, or the coust and definitely the onza!
Does anyone know if it is reynolds tubing as well or just alluminium? So there are now 4 triple tube type frames right?
Peace

I think some companies should be more original..
Kudo's to Koxx, Echo, BT, Coustellier.

Kudo's to Koxx, Echo, BT, Coustellier.Just so you have your facts strait Leeson did the original design a couple years before Coustellier did it. Norco is out to make a good entry level bike. That full bike is 500 dollars cnd cheaper than a Coustellier frame which it looks similar too. Considering there are a few cases on the net of Coust frames snapping within a few months maybe spending half the price for a knock off isn't such a dumb idea...

Personally I think Koxx are the only ones who are actually into innovative ideas that have function. The rest are just good solid designs and nothing wrong with that.

Realise.

that Evolve isn't dark brown, is it?

airmj
09-01-2004, 07:50 PM
That's the worst ever color scheme for their trials frame man. Did their designer quite or something? and the decals! wtf? whats wrong with norco.

The 04's was a gazillion times nicer. Glossy brown? wtf? yuck.

Trialsking
09-01-2004, 08:01 PM
Are we going to see Leech on that thing with a suspension fork? Where would he put his seat???

Just kidding.

But its cool for an entry level bike. And the Vees are cool cuz magura only are not cool.

It just looks like someone left their Pitbull in the dryer too long!

Besides I think a lot of people aren't looking at the price as much as you should. You can buy 2 of the evolve frames, powder coat them both, and still shell out less money than you would for the standard Koxx 1065.

Hey BrettM,

You said that leeson did the design a few years before coust. Do you know where to find any pictures of this frame or what the name was? They only thing I can find on the net is the Leeson clear 660.

Thanks

BrettM,

Are you referring to the Leeson mod bike?

BrettM

I forget exactly what the Leeson deal was. I believe it was some one off goofy prototype sorta deal. I'm pretty sure it was a stock and not a mod tho. Maybe someone else has pics?

RomanR

I have the picture of that Leeson prototype:

Then there's also that Pashley 26 Ghz, which was unveiled at Bike 2003.

Yeah I would look into one also, but it just seems like some of the companies should be more original and try to beat that design with something better. But I duno..Has anyone ridden the Ashton I think it looks nice.

Please tell me how echo, bt, cous were innovative?

bt? bent top tube?
echo? copies?
Cous? a mix of ashton and pashley?

Most revolutionary frame out this year woudl be the Vinco i'd say...

Props to Norco for making a trials bike that people can afford.

I never said they were innovative. just didnt copy eachother because they have normal bikes (with the seat tube and such).

ahhh sweet jesus- what the fuck happened to flat black... that thing look slike a fresh slimy turd, whats with the dookie brown? are they trying to make it look bad? i dont care because i will never own one and a simple can of spray paint would take care of it but what art major picked the patch work decals and color for that bike?

other than that- solid bike for the money im sure- it will fill a lot of people's needs in the market and work well for lots of folk. good for norco.

I already said I'm no fan of what this bike looks like. But personally I still give the Coust 1st place for ugliest decals and no paint is pretty exciting as well...

I think it's f-ing hilarious that on this post people are critisizing a bike for being "the same" as every other bike, and all at the same time, saying it's stupid because it has an origional color! (ie...not the same as other bikes) you guys are incredible.....I mean it's the same thing with the durgendesigns fork. You critisize every clone frame for being just that, and then an independant fabricator comes along and has a unique idea and this forum blasts him. so what if it has a backwards brake...challenge the price, ansd I understand, but attempt to destroy an origional idea before you even try it, all the while bitching about everything else being the same.....Hipocrates.

Why dont we see so much bagging about forks? Look how many forks look exactly the same as the Koxx Forx.
Was it considered copying when one company developed a brake booster and others copied this and made their own?
Grow up and get over it, its life, trials is not the only sport that has copies.

Exactly. As long as when you copy something you copy a good idea. I am all for innovation, but a lot of people turn a perfectly fine idea into a complete gong show (durgen fork).

I think a lot of people here are missing exactly what is unique aboots that bike. For the same price as 1 Koxx Levelboss 1065 you get a full bike with decent trials geometry that comes with such things as Truvativ splined cranks and an avid front disk brake.

We can sit here and play who copied who all day long with the look of the frame but its not aboots that. Tell me who Norco is copying with a complete 1000 dollar cnd trials frame with decent parts and geometry? Exactly. Besides, the bike probably isn't so much aimed at 90 % of the riders posting in this thread anyways. It is meant for lower level guys trying to get in and try things out for the most part. I bet the bike will do very well this year...

marzocchi mx comp

I belive it's been lowered so that it only travels around 60mm. It certainly doesn't look like the stock 85mm that the mx comp comes with.
