and bakes mean ass loaves of bread.
we all slept on mattresses stuffed with hundred dollar bills that night after we rode. it was so delightful. this was right after norba totally remembered that there was a pro and junior class to announce at the awards dealie....

i thought the turn out was pretty good, at least compared to last year. and as usual it was a bunch of cool dudes, and gal. hope to see u guys a few more times next year.

ps. this is just a joke, please no one from colorado get mad(u guys rule even Chris thinks so), or any Mormans,........ i know some missionaries in my neiborhood.

so who competed in the womens class? gina, kevin, and who else?
just kidding, i have no room to talk as the worst junior rider in the US
what was the total turnout? any good crashes? anything worth mentioning?

i hurt my elbie-bone, my ankle was mad at me all day, i tore some crap off my shin and i tried (unsuccessfully) to take out my appendix with my brake lever. i also did a total agro sit down on my bike which many people notified me was seatless- it was hilarious, landed right where i hurt my tailbone earlier in the week.
oh yeah and gina better watch her keister because im moving up quick in the femina class....
i like how paul is celebrating his podium finish. and kevin is getting denied. and how i couldnt make it....and how the top riders got such awesome payout and prizes for winning! ...oh, wait...
...and how everyone got a series t-shirt for their entry fee as stated in the description. oh, wait...
Seriously speaking, is there any question why there is such a small turnout at these events? There was zero payout for any classes, no prize list, lax uci checking and a high entry fee. The raffle was good (especially thanks to Graham from Faction Bike), the sections were fun, and the BBQ afterwards was a blast, but worth spending more than $100 bucks on? Are big time pros going to spend hundreds of dollars and possibly miss out on thousands of dollars in possible demo payout to travel to a comp to receive a 2 dollar medal which is only distiguished from other places by the color of the ribbon at a comp that will provide them with little to no self-promotion? To put it into perspective, there were no prizes for any classes and the majority of the raffle goodies were donated by a 1st placing expert rider who didn't end up getting anything for his efforts (Graham Wilhelm)... Maybe I'm looking at this from the wrong perspective??
Overall it was the most enjoyable comp that I've ever competed in but there is obviously a lot of improvement to be considered. Great job to all the riders!

I thought the comp was great and the sections weren't as dangerous as normal. I'de like to thank the slc guys for making it out I hope to see you again next year, also JP for setting up the comp and steve for doing his part, and graham at Faction Bikes for hooking up the only worth while prizes.
There were no mod pros and I took third after a couple of durango locals whos names I cant remember.

not so much- just a lady with long hair.
gina looked a thousand times better on her new woodman compared to last year on her tazer ht frame. i hope she keeps the rubber side down and tears it up at worlds.

This was a great comp and worth the money to attend. I think it is a great step foward from the last couple years. We had sections IN the venue, not up the street; we had awards DURING the awards ceremony; starts times were announced.
I think Steve and JP did a very good job, the BBQ was sweet! I hope to make more comps next year, maybe eventually we can get back to the attendance of yesteryears. Anyone remember expert classes with 40 people, pro with 20, and more than 5 total mod riders?
This weekend is Gunnison, everyone should go. It's at 3 pm on Saturday at the KOA by Hartman Rocks. $20 to enter, not NORBA. Greg always puts on a sick event.

And after Kevin's nut & gut buster crashes this weekend, he's definetly entering into Femina.

Sound like it was a good time. Last years event was fun and it's too bad I had to miss it this year.
Mike, don't worry. Soon enough you can start smoking me in expert mod. TEAM on the way.. ~1 month.
