where the hell do i find hard tar?!!

basically what the title says, i am having a hard timing locating hard roofing tar... i am tired of using soda that wears off in like a day and i don't have anything but a bench grinder so a rim grind is out. there aren't any construction sites close so i am sol i guess. lemme know if there are any stores or such. thanks -dustin

Just go to a home improvement center, like a home depot, or Lowes or anything like that. The problem is that it comes in like fifty pound quantities. It's not very expensive, and would last you a lifetime, but it's a pain in the ass to deal with like that. Use the yellow pages, and find a roofing business near you, they'll hook you up I'm sure.
P.S. I think I gave up like $20 for mine, but it WAS ten years or so ago:)

how much is a 50 pound block? i could tar like 5 billion rims with that though... i will look up a roofing place i guess. thanks for the idea. btw, my local home depot doesn't have it. -dustin

You need to go to an actual roofer's offices/shop and ask them for a chunk of "kettle tar" they don't understand the term hard tar or roofing tar.

Haha, my friends own a roofing business and it never occured to me to ask them about it. I just didn't wanna sound like a tard ass and say "can I have some tar?" and then them bust out with like 50 different types, so I never asked, that and I always forgot. Kettle tar, eh?

Matt is right, people do not know what 'roofing tar' is, I went and asked for some back when I used to use it, not that long ago actually and the people at the local hardware store did not know what it was.
What you need to buy is 'Flashtac' if I remember correctly, get some of that and your set, I think a roll of 7m was about 10 AUD so its cheap stuff.
