ok, please explain the drivetrain differences to me! my x-lite came with what seems to be a 20 engagement point front.. wtf do you call them; freewheel?
ok so theres that and i guess you can get the freewheel on the rear hub instead too, right? whats the differences and why the differences. i dont like having only 20 points so please give me your advice on the cheapest/best way to upgrade.
THANKS

yes its called a freewheel, if you want more engagements, put up 100 bucks for the white industries freewheel, which has 72 engagements, and you will be happy

Yes, higher end mods will have a freewheel on the crank, unless you run a CK hub in the back. Anyways, spend $17 and get an ACS claws freewheel - 36 engagement points and 4 pawls. You'll have a fixed cog in the back, and freewheel in the front for weight savings and weight distribution, not mention you can run a shorter chain and keep it protected by the bashguard.

thanks lads
my stock bike has a 36pt hub so thats the minimum for me. i checked out the white 72pt hub and it sure looks sweet. maybe i'll treat myself to it. either that or the acs then. easy.
Sweet Grado DaneBrammage! I'll trade you theses for a White Industries anytime...haha!

the story behind ffw's was that apparently Mod's needed such a small ring in the back, that no hub was able to use a free wheel and use that small of a ring at the time. so somebody just decided to move the FW up front so that mods could use proper gearing. of course, now manufacturers have started making 12 tooth cogs for the rear, so all is good.
get an ACS or the WI Trials freewheel, unless of course, you want to spend an arm and a leg on a new wheel. ;)
