The Kernville Festival Fat Tire Festival will be held on Saturday-Sunday, October 23-24th.
The Kernville Fat Tire Festival includes a costume party, lots of group mtn bike rides, and a BIKETRIALS event. The area boast lots of sandy riverbottom type riding, some big granite rocks, and is a lot of fun. It is situated at Mountain-River Adventures campground, just outside of the town of Kernville. There is GREAT FREE camping in an established commercial campground, IF you let me know to expect you. Without the prior notice, I am unable to accomodate you for free, since we are alloted a certain number of spaces, based on what guys tell me they're coming. We have, in the past, done a lot of group riding on Saturday, with an entertaining biketrials rodeo, with bunnyhop contest, gap contest, Biketrials Sumo wrestling and other fun stuff, around 3 PM. This gathering is for the entertainment of the assembled mountain bike participants, who are returning from all day rides, and the hillclimb competition. The biketrials comp is actually on Sunday morning.

The date is Friday-Sunday, October 22-24th, 2004. There will be announcements as the weekend gets closer.

Well, if you would ever bother coming back to So Cal comps sometime, you would find out that a bike rodeo involves bikes. No really, its just a fancy way of saying "hopping on your bike while people are watching"

Ah, knew I could find this info here. Gonna request some time off for this, probably make it a four day weekend. Friday to get over there early and Monday to recover at home before working again.

Do I know you? I'm alex.

yeah I dont come down to so-cal much anymore. I always seem to have something else going on the weekends that theres trials comps. That and it doesnt help that I go to school in chico, up near the top part of california. When I go with the bay area crew down there, after we get done with a 7 hour drive or so from so-cal to the bay, I still have a 3 1/2 hour drive north till I get back up to school. Since I usually have school on mondays, 10 hours of driving after a comp on sunday kinda sucks.

I'm doing this on the 23rd instead of going to kernville.

My attendance has been changed to Questionable.

My little car has developed some very strange thumps and noises. It's one thing to get a 20 mile tow home from work, another thing completely to get a 200 mile tow home. And the big ol' wagon isn't up for a road trip.

Wouldn't be surprised if I don't make it; stuff like this happens to me more often than not. Bleah.

:D time for the southerners to drive far for a change! nah 7 hours on the road round trip isnt bad when you have your bike there with you.

I talked with the Mtn River people today and Fri/Sat/Sun weather looks good. I will be there Friday afternoon with my trailer. Zak and Sam will be there sometime Friday night. Signup will be in the same spot and will open Sunday morning around 8:30am. Trials will start at 10am. Sat will be for goofing off and practice until 3pm, then we'll have the bunnyhop, sumo bike wrestling etc.

See you there.

Howard

Ian...if you can make it to Simi (Sam's house) by 10:30 Friday morning, I can take you

I may take you up on the offer, as my wife may not go and I may not pay for a motel.

Trialsking
10-22-2004, 06:03 PM
Well, if you didnt make reservations you may have a tough time finding a motel because all the XC guys have them. I can usually find one but its a pain in butt driving around and looking for one.

hophopsnap

anyone know the weather conditions? My dad said the tent could fit 3 fine but 4 would be a squeeze lol...free camping and being a bit cold would be better then wasting money on gas and finding a hotel with some cockroaches as your bed buddies
