As mentioned in a previous post, Biketrial Midwest is hosting a 2-day comp in Baraboo, WI in September.
Full details are on http://www.wisconsintrials.org/biketrial_midwest/
Please note: IF we don't get 10 paid registrations by the first weekend in September we're going to have to cancel. Hopefully that won't be the case!

Well this event is still happening, but I only have a small handful of confirmed riders.. Which is making me seriously rethink putting any effort into a full midwest series for '05. Why bother?
I figure Sam & Issac got 15 guys to Indiana. If I can get that many to baraboo then it would probably make continued '05 events worthwhile. If less than that? Well, then I think I'm going to just get a new mototrials bike and get out of biketrial for awhile...

Rudy and myself (Peter; we're the guys you talked to at the World Round in Duluth) will be coming for sure, possibly bringing two other guys that are just beginning trials. I know I haven't signed up yet and I'm not sure whether Rudy has or not, but you can add us to the list.
Incedentally, two weekends ago there was an amateur mototrials comp at Spirit with the sections at the bottom of the hill. Lots of good terrain there. Rudy and I tried to ride some of the sections but it was quite muddy and the stream was really flowing making the rock sections really slippery. A lot like Saturday at the World Round, so humid you could see your breath.
My theory for the possible low attendence at this event is that it is right after school starts for most people. The fact that I'll be back at college by then makes attending the event difficult as I have a 6 hour drive down from the U.P. Friday night and then back on Sunday night. I can only hope I don't have any exams on Monday.

Thanks Peter. Glad to hear you guys are coming. I think you'll really, really enjoy hanging out with my expert rider (Peter Hellenbrand...) We're going to put in some good fun sections and just try to have a good time with the folks that show up.

:( Wish you were coming. Some other time! If I scrap the full-2005 series idea I think I may still have at least a one-off event during the summer..

I'm going to be at the Red Bull Bike Battle hanging out and watching Petr Kraus, Jaromir Spesny, Keita Miyoaka and a ton of other trials pros represent trials in front of a million people that weekend. Any way that you could change the date? I'll come out of retirement for it! ;-)
Baraboo rules for trials...but more importantly, when did the Midwest become a certified 'scene'? That's awesome!!

yeah thanks man, i really had a fun experience. i'm really glad i came, as a beginner i now know what i need to improve on for next year's season;)
First off, I'd like to thank Bentley and Peter Hellenbrand. I know they put a lot of time and money into this event and even though the attendance wasn't what it could have been, I know everyone that rode really appreciated their efforts.
A little rundown of the weekend:
Saturday was a learning experience for most of us, as almost everyone there had never ridden a comp before. Peter H. gave us all a rundown of the rules and some techniques and strategies, and then we hit the sections. The small turnout was great in one respect in that the riders all got to know each other right away and there was a great atmosphere when riding the sections. Though we did tally dabs, the focus was more on the learning how to ride a comp, especially the challenges of natural terrain.
Saturday night, we were all tired as hell but we badgered Peter H. into showing us the U of W - Madison campus. That campus was massive and had tons of awesome stuff. I look forward to riding that area again, hopefully with more energy next time.
Sunday the sections were reversed and the weather held out for another sunny and 70's day. Again the atmosphere was more like a group ride than comp, so no pressure and we watched some more of the mototrials guys do the sections.
Anyway, I had a great time, it was worth the drive down from da UP. Thanks again to Bentley and Peter H., look forward to seeing the pics!

Hey, thanks to you guys for showing up! I'm sure we'll do it again next year. Still haven't gotten the pics out of my camera.
Tanner, I owe you an apology. I totally wigged on getting the camera out on saturday. So I didn't get any pics of you! I'll have to make it up to you.
Remember, you promised me at least 5 guys from the point (and all bringing beer!) next year!

Better make it one case per rider. Maybe we'll just make that the entry fee. ;0
