save up is your best bet. If you're lucky enough, i think you'll be able to snatch up a CK hub laced onto a Monty (i think) rim, with plazmatic coating. PM cholm for more info, seeing as he's the one selling.

has anybody a idee how often i can grind my rim??? i use a echo rim and have already 5-6 grind it.
Andreas

As often as you need to. I can't just say "You can ONLY grind it 4.3 times every week if you expect it to last for 7 months, 1 week, and 2 days". If your rim bends/dents/explodes, it would be still worth it in my opinion. What's better-Learning new moves because you have a brake that holds? Then having to pay 60$ after 6 months of riding? OR Paying 0$ and not learning much because you can't trust your brakes?
Just the way I look at things....So If i was you, I wouldn't worry about it, just take things as they come. ;)

i grind my rim ones or two a month and before a competition too!! the alu from the echo rim is very strong so that the grinding is very hard for the bend, but the grind holds longer then a try all rim. i ride my rim since 5-6 months.

slackers rim was really old..at least a year, and he put a mess of heavy grinds on it almost every week. not to mention he had a monty skinwall tire, and whenever it folded he would slam the rim wicked hard, today he just had enough and wrecked it.
i dont know aboots the CK, compared to my White Industries the only difference i saw was the King seemed to slow me down because the ratchet was so strong. i know your not reccomending me the king, but why spend the money if you dont want or need it?

You don't, and I never said you have to. Just my reccommendation. I don't really care what people run on their bikes, but I run a King, and that's what I want to run. WI FW is heavier, and doesn't seem to be as sturdy as a King would (in theory). It is a cheaper option though, and definately seems to be holding up to it's expectations. I was under the impression that he was looking for a freewheel hub though, because he had asked what else besides Quando is good (Only other Fixed rear hubs are Echo and Try All?)

ya most bmx hubs are thread on..otherwise they wouldnt be able to run freewheels. i have a primo bmx hub on my mod, but i havent been able to find another one, or just another flip flop hub thats cheap (i usually search for all the best crap for his bike..he doesnt know how to use a computer haha)
anyone know of a good flip flop hub? bmx/trials whatever

What is plazmatic coating, and what does it do?
it is a super secret material ( somebody knows it here, i forget who) that is applied to your rim by a company by the name of Plazmatic. it has properties that are far superior to ceramic coating. it makes your braking better.

anyone know of a good flip flop hub? bmx/trials whatever
GT Mohawk, or those Suzue or whatever highflange hubs.
Plazmatic coating is a coating thats used on airplane engines or something. The machine used to apply it is incredibly pricey and as far as I know, the coating is no longer available. It's way rough stuff though and the bike's I've seen with it have incredible brake lock up... It's far superior to a grind, except that you can't modulate.

you can get other companies to apply the coating for you. someone else posted this a while ago, but the process is called thermal spray (or HVOF - high velocity oxyfuel) and the coating is tungsten based...tungsten carbide, something like that. i think basically there's a really hot flame, and small particles of whatever coating you're putting on are sprayed through it, melted mid-air, and become a really fine dust that then solidifies on whatever you're coating. it's really bombproof.
but yeah, there are plenty of companies arond that do this, and i think they wouldn't mind spraying a rim for you.

Prolly wouldn't be that bad....what would you look for in a phone book for that though, perhaps like a powdercoating place could do it? I know it's NOTHING alike, but they seem to also do rubberized coating, plating, etc.....
