hmmm, i do hear that santa cruz has some real good spots. I guess that is all urban though? I'd be down for a natural ride...definately Half Moon Bay if that's what people want to ride. There are literally miles of rocks that go on forever, there is no pavement/sand in between them either, just rocks rocks rocks for a long time.
What dates are good for people? It's summer for me so anything will work (except for july 16, derr)
onto1wheel
06-22-2004, 12:04 PM
santa cruz definetly has lots of natural, too. But halfmoonbay looks really good too (all natty there?). I wouldn't mind taking a trip there one o these days.
I'm still a working stiff, so eve's and wknds always work best for me.

I really don't know if going to SC is possible (I've been there before, was going to be a banana slug if I didn't get into college in colorado...). I won't be in the state for long, so the closer the better. I don't know what kind of access to a car I will have.

I'll be there from July 1st to July 10th (i think).
where is paulsf when you need him? in the cuts
Paulsf
06-25-2004, 01:31 PM
yes, i've been in the cuts making money so i can afford to come back to the co for the durango event. andrew, just pm me when your're in town and we'll hit up some sick rocks in city limits.

Paulsf
06-29-2004, 01:09 PM
not at all. I'm always down to ride with people of any level. when I know of a group ride, i try to let everyone in the imediate area in on it. by the way, where do you live onto1wheel?

heya Paul, I know you're a cool dude, and I appreciate your sf group rides (even though I haven't been able to get to one), and the sf comp you hosted a month or so ago (thanks again!). So i was sure hoping you'd post this ride, but... it kinda sounded like maybe not.
Anyway, i'm in santa cruz/scotts valley.
I hope i get a chance to ride with you guys in sf some day. seems like such an awesome place to ride!
If you find yourself toward santa cruz, i'd be happy to show you some great spots (if you don't already know them)

paul, this is alex, the guy your always trying to buy shit off of or sell shit to, i'm visiting for the summer and can finally make it to one of your tuesday(forgot which day, just remember its a weekday) rides. Are you guys gonna ride this thurs or fri? I'm going out of town for the 4th but would like to go on a group ride before I leave.

AndyT
07-01-2004, 02:55 PM
I'm going to be there july 10th through the 18th, any time in that week (12th-15th or so) will be great...i'll be riding in orinda every day if anyone wants to come there.
Paulsf
07-01-2004, 03:48 PM
I'd come out to orinda. is there much to ride around there? if you dont have access to a car you can take the BART train to north berkeley for some street on campus or to the embarcadero station in sf for more street and some sweet rocks if you're willing to ride a bit.
I'd be psyched to ride in santa cruz, theres lots of good stuff there.I just need to get my car drama sorted out(no insurance, leaking trans fluid).
Andreas, would you be into riding on tuesday or wedsday?

07-01-2004, 07:42 PM

07-05-2004, 09:24 PM
who's wants to ride tomorrow, the 6th? I'd be psyched to hit up stanford or santa cruz. I'd have to catch a ride from you digby.
my volvo blew up on the way back from the last fontana i went to. Me, Phil, and Tony pushed it in to a auto mechanic in some town off 101 and he (the mechanic) told me i had the worst car ever made.

^^^^
I'd like to ride tommorow! Haven't ridden with people in ages :hs: I took a spill today on some rocks but should be good to go by tommorow.
I've never ridden Santa Cruz, and hear it has good rocks and urban? Stanford is cool with me too, whichever works. What time would we ride, Later in the day or early?

Howdy!
Doug, let me know how the test ride turns out. I've only seen a couple of the
950's on the road and they seem cool, smaller than expected. Not big pigs like
the GS/Varadero/VStrom etc.. Did I tell you that the Aprilia is sold?
About riding: It seems like we're reaching critical mass for it to happen!
WooHoo!

ucsc or stanford?
i prefer ucsc, but it depends on the rest of those with wheels to get there
Andreas
07-06-2004, 10:55 AM
my back isn't feeling much better today....i took some advil and am trying to get it better but, well, i'll see. 1 00 is OK, 2 or 3 would work better for me.
my parents don't want to drive down to UCSC :weak: What about serra park or something like that?
onto1wheel
07-06-2004, 11:22 AM
i don't know if serra park has enough stuff for a big group ride, since i've never been there.
but i'd be happy to hit up serra or stanford.
Andreas, i could pick you up at 85/280 to go to stanford if that helps.
hey digby and paul and lurkers, are you guys riding? sounds like me and andreas and katoom are in.
(i could push it a little later to 1:30 or 2)
Andreas
07-06-2004, 11:25 AM
well, i need to see if my back is better come the time for group ride...
serra park has a bunch of rocks and a few walls to play on, it's pretty fun! At the rate things are going, it doesn't sound like this group ride will be much of a group at all :hs: serra park has enough stuff for begginners like us and pro riders as well.
my parents can give me a ride to stanford/parks etc, but for some reason don't want to drive down to UCSC :dunno: maybe another day for santa cruz

Andreas: is this Serra Park in Sunnyvale? (Never been there, just wondering)
So, when's the drop dead time for deciding about where/when?
Later!
Andreas
07-06-2004, 12:08 PM
yes it is in sunnyvale.
since it sounds like it's only us, maybe you guys want to just ride at mckenzie / another 2 parks that are nearby there?
onto1wheel
07-06-2004, 12:43 PM
sounds good to me.
Andreas, you want to meet at serra, or mckenzie?
1:30 ok?
katoom?
Andreas
07-06-2004, 12:49 PM
1:30 is fine, McKenzie is close by to me, so i wouldn't even need a ride! It also has some good rocks/obstacles, and about a 10 minute bike ride away is yet another 2 parks with more rocks!!
Do you know how to get there? I PM'ed Katoom the directions, so will you guys be going together? Just incase you didn't get directions....:
To get there, take 280 (south if you're coming from Stanford area), exit off onto Magdelena. Drive down this road for about 1 mile until you get to a Rancho shopping center (there are a bunch of buildings). This is at the intersection of Magdelena and Foothill Expressway. Cross the intersection, and make the soonest right possible (It is before Magdelena starts to curve to the left hand side). So, stay on this road and you will see McKenzie park on your left hand side. There will be a tennis court and a few picnic tables (As well as some cement cyclinders) out in the front. To get to the rock section, go to the left hand side of the tennis court where there is a path that leads down. Take this path and you will get to the back side of the park, on your right hand side will be a big wooden playground, with some rocks right next to it.
those are pretty detailed directions. If i'm not right next to the tennis courts in the front, i will be in the back by the rocks! I will be there at 1 30, i'll cya guys ther!

I'll be back in town tonight(tuesday), I can give 1 or 2 people rides to sf, depends on if you wanna take your bike apart and stuff it in the trunk. So tomorrow ride in sf? AndrewT are you in town yet?
Nikolai
07-06-2004, 02:49 PM
Alex, you can fit at least three other bikes in addition to yours on your bike rack.
Guys, don't let Alex take your bike apart and put it in the trunk. His rack can take the weight, and a whole lot more.
Andreas
07-06-2004, 05:52 PM
Thanks for showing up guys! The ride was good, for those who didn't come. We hit up some local parks of mine and I think everybody was pretty content with the lines that we pulled/learned!
I would be down for riding tommorow, but can't start any earlier than 2:30 PM. SF would be cool....never been there before. I'd need some detailed directions or a ride? Let me know when/where

what do you want us to do? lay down a red carpet as you walk out of your plane? whoopedy doo, andrew is coming. if you want to ride, all of us would be glad to see you out there, but we're not here at your services to do whatever you want. if you want to ride in SF, we can be there. UCSC? We can be there. Orinda? ......not really sure if there's much up there, but I'm sure you can get a ride to SF.
i didn't even know until yesterday that you were coming here from the 10th on. How about a ride on Sunday, the 11th? I'd be down for riding SF again, it was good fun last time. My xtp should be here tommorow....

you dont have to be an ass about it, did you even bother to read anything on the 2nd page of this thread? I'm not sure what you expect, mapquest directions? GPS coordinates? Theres been directions for one ride posted, the street corner for where we were gonna meet for a ride in sf, Ive offered to pick people up if they dont have a car or dont know where the ride is, someone else has also offered to pick people up for rides.
Not sure what you find so shady about that.
