"Team Megamo Midwest would like to announce that they'll be hosting 2 Wisconsin fun comps in 2004, in preparation for a full 5 event Midwest Regional Championship to be held in 2005.

Details are still very sketchy, but we've confirmed the 2 locations for 2004 and want to start getting the word out to riders everywhere.

For this year we're going to do a comp in Wisconsin during the WORS mountain bike race at Devil's Head, and a comp in Baraboo, WI during the WOTA mototrial weekend.

Devils' Head: June 26 [edited 5/19 to change to SAturday only to avoid interfereing with the XC riders on Sunday]

We've got WORS permission (and insurance!) and we're going up there first week of June to look around for section potential. Peter Hellenbrand, our top expert rider did a demo there last year and has been the key person in putting this new comp together.

Baraboo, WI: September 18th/19th. Possibly a 2 day trial. Not sure yet. We share this event with WOTA mototrials. Usually a good spectator turnout. Good rocks. Insurance isn't decided for this event, but NORBA is one possibility. I'll try to get that figured out soon.

So those are our WI rounds for 2004. That should give us some experience for the full midwest regional championships in 2005...

I'll get more detailed information posted as I get it together..

BWolfe,

Should we make are series, two day events?

And we should consider a indoors event as the kick off, maybe early march. I know of a indoor freestyle park in Elkhart, Indiana near the TOLL road 80/90.

food for thought!

sam

Hey Sam..

I know the WORS Devil's Head event (this year) is only going to be a Saturday ride. Peter says the place will be too busy with XC riders on Sunday.

However, Baraboo WI can definitely be a two-day, and if you can do a two day I say let's do it. But I think trying to do -all- two days would be murder.

Now, for indoor.. have you given some thought to what you'd be getting into? Putting on an indoor is an incredible amount of work. And you have to source, move, assemble a lot of stuff, then take it all apart, move it out and clean up afterwards. If you think you have the team to get that done... go for it! All I ask is that you think hard about it!

We should talk about this on the phone... Things are starting to gel..

In other good news, Squirrel has asked if he can do FreakMagnet (formerly Trials by Fire) as part of our schedule. So that will give us WI, IN and now OH events!! I am STOKED>

So you say your now selling Megamo but what is the scoop on the company? I am riding an Equip pro 26" after riding my radical and before that an expert megamo frame.

But Doug hasn't answered me emails regarding what the hell is going on with Megamo.

Do you know something I dont know? the scoop on the return of Megamo as Hebo? etc etc
sorry as this is a bit off topic...

Thanks!
Dave

Hey Dave..

You have a good point, and I'd like to discuss it with you but I'm not sure of all the facts yet so I hesitate to post it here.

However, because of the confusion about Megamo's biketrial plans I am changing my sig as of now. I'm glad you mentioned it. I'm also in the process of changing the name of the team (as soon as I think of something catchy...)

I do have to say that if their final decision is to stop making trials frames it's a shame. Those are excellent frames :(

If you'd like to talk about it offline you can reach me at bwolfe@macromedia.com or on my cell at 415-297-7468

Haven't gotten a single email or phone call. Guess I haven't been doing enough promoting.

Anyway, this Saturday's comp (6/26) at Devil's Head Ski Area in Merrimac, WI is still on. If nobody shows up we're just gonna set it up and demo for the cross country racers. Of coursre, if you want to show up then email me at bwolfe@macromedia.com (bwolfe@macromedia.com) or call my cell at 415-832-2650.

This will be a low-key fun comp. The 2-day biketrial September 18/19 in Baraboo, WI will be more intense. They have a lot of nice natty rocks in Baraboo. It's only about 5 miles from the Merrimac comp, but Merrimac doesn't have quite the terrain..

Baraboo will be 2-day, free primitive camping and I think I can get us into the saturday night steak dinner for a few bucks each. Only a few miles from the Wisconsin Dell's many tourist traps (including excellent go-carts.. a saturday night go-cart championship may be necessary..) Still haven't settled the insurance, but I'll figure that out. I'm working on a site for the september comp now.
