I want Caissos bike!

average mike

It looks like vinco is running a mod fork or something. I like the look of that bike though.

BrettM

That fucker on the black bike is running a grip shift on the seat tube isn't he? Bastard.

afrobot
04-06-2004, 06:09 PM
Thats why he is forced to use rim brakes :ugh2: .It's a stock fork with
reversed 4 bilt mounts

wow... the BB on Vinco's bike is waaaaaay up there...
And I think that fork is hideous... reminds me of the DDG or Trailstar or whatever that stupid british fork is...
Top tube-seatstay junction on Caisso's bike looks like a zoo pirahna!
Weird how Vinco's bike uses a mod stem...

And yes, Brett, that looks like a grip shift on the seat tube like on your peyto.

Here's another one.

The Euro Style has finally shifted to Island Style. Thankfully it has nothing to do with actually riding a bike. I'm interested in how long till my disk tab idea gets ripped off too. Be cool if they had a beer bottle opener...I mean cork screw.

I think I know why he's running a mod stem... cuz his BB is +80-90mm high. (I may be completely off, I just did a simple persentage measurement comparing the bb height to the fork height, assuming the fork is 400mm.)

Elan
04-07-2004, 01:11 AM
divide that figure by 10 and you have the mm..... but yes. it is probably to offset the effects of a bb that is in your anus when you ride

no no, 80-90mm
http://www.observedtrials.net/otn/6_jpg.jpg
5 / 24 = 0.2083 (the bb height is 20.83% of the fork height)
Lets say the fork is 400mm, 20.83% of that would be 83.3mm
If the fork is 390mm, bb height is 81.25mm

Its just a ball park figure, a bunch of things makes it inaccurate.
I think its safe to say that +75-90mm BB height is pretty insane. I'm curious to try one.

OMFG!!!! I WANT VINCO'S BLACK FRAME!!! i would pay good money for that i think its awsome idea, and check the integrated booster on the frame. also i think koxx are so damn smart to make all these different editions to their trials frame range by asking the actual riders what they want, and not just one rider but all of them. goddamnit i love vinco's frame. its the best advancement i have seen yet in trials bikes, the bb is so high you like wouldnt even need to ratchet your cranks in hooks!! and i think it will feel amazing, seeing how well he is riding it. hmm, so how much is 899 euro's in ozzie dollars?? LOL way too much, oh well start saving .... heheheheh i wonder what it would be like with a stock stem :p ... anyway all of those frames are amazingly awsome. koxx are smart.

i love the xtp mod, except for that headtube area thing, it hasnt grown on me yet.

the kenny sounds nice spec wise, i'll cruise nopogo in a sec for more pics cause that doesnt tell me enough.

vinco is way too crazy for me to comprehend right now. pushing extremes. and 899 Euros = 1428 Australian = fuck off, so i guess i dont have to comprehend it :)

did vinco drill out his helmet? but yes these frames are crazy.
Vinco is the sweetest looking mmmm.
I was wondering when the koxx design would get dramatically different.
I hope Zoo! doesn't come out with a Dobermen that looks like vinco's frame!

ok, i am so lost. i thought yo ualways measure bb from axle to axle parralell line.... :?

Bloodhound
04-08-2004, 03:15 AM
you measure bb height from axel height. The red line represents the axel height, the green line is the distance from the axel height to the conter of the bb. To be accurate, that green line should be perpendicular to the axel line.

Chris

For the bb height thing. The Megamo Dave Herr is on and the Tibo frame that is coming out are both 14.75 bbs I believe. So almost 2 inches higher than the axles.

Elan
04-08-2004, 11:16 AM
there is no way that hte BB is higher than 20mm from the axle to axle line

durkie
04-08-2004, 11:19 AM
does vinco have a hooters chainstay guard?

Gardenfan
04-08-2004, 11:31 AM
Tibo is a plus 20mm, so just under 1 inch higher.

Daves bike is a phreak, but not as phreaky as that vinco.

DangerousDave
04-08-2004, 12:00 PM
i think the tibo is around 13.8"bb
my equip is 14.25
that vinco must be what? 15-16" bb height. haha

Chris
04-08-2004, 01:16 PM
it IS about 80mm+. Just compare it to the length of the steerer tube or the stem - clamp height, which is about 4-5cm.
http://www.observedtrials.net/otn/23_jpg.jpg

Tibo Veuillet rode with Vinco, and he knows it for sure that the bb is 8cm+. And posted that on a french trials forum. Believe it or not.[/img]

So are these like regular Koxx frames in the sence that all Koxx carriers will be getting them?

Chris

80-90 mm from BB to top of steerer head? what..im not posting anymore, i feel retarded

sorry I mixed some things up..... look at the head tube on the pic for example, which is about 100-120, then compare it with the short vertical yellow line. It's more than half as long as the head tube. So a 80mm+ bb is pretty realistic, although it sounds crazy.

Elan
04-08-2004, 04:16 PM
ah. i just figured somthing out...the BB height you guys are measuring is perpendicular from axle-axle to CENTER of BB (right?)

i was looking at woodman and some other frame companie's drawings, and they measure to bottom of bb...so like measureing for clearance really, instead of actual ride height.... it doesnt really matter i guess.... i think i am correct, perhaps not.

Chris
04-08-2004, 04:22 PM
maybe you're also right... but I always thought it was from axle-axle to centre of bb.

Here's a drawing of the xtp frame, there it's also measured to the centre

Jesus Christ! That Marc Vinco frame is insane. I wonder whether the next step will be just making a frame with out a top tube, seat tube, or seat stays? You could make it consist of merely a headtube, a fat monocoque tube, and super beefy chain stays.

Ha Ha, I'd bet you'd buy it if the cousts rode it. :joshers:
Seriously though, if the down tube was straight and had more feature to it, the bike would look cool. Marc Vinco's bike has like a 4 inch long seat tube. What's the use? Barely increases stiffness, nothing one solid monocoque couldn't do. The giant is lame because it is just lame elliptical shaped tubes.

Elan

NO WAY. i hate that idea. why chage it if the traditional trialngles are very stiff and very strong? and a single tube would be hard to make it look good and i dont think it would be strong.

the wheelbase is to offset the fuckedness of a +8cm bb and a mod stem. i mean, the chainstays are pointing at the front brake....

he's higher on the bike, he would have more leverage on the bike, and have to move less to get his balance going the way he wants.... or something like that.

Elan
04-11-2004, 12:00 AM
i never noticed that koxx....looks like coustelliers are copied again??? its not the exact same, no..but what gives

DMArnt
04-11-2004, 12:26 AM
Thinking about it.

Would having a higher BB then normal actually help with the appications used to leap higher, gap further, extra leverage etc. Or is it just so there is more clearance and less chance of catching ur BB during a comp and scoring a dab?

And another one ..
Would that frame have a more of a flex facter vertically that a normal hight BB, letting the rider to use the xtra flex like a spring crating more lift etc?

I have another thought, but i'm going to stop before I hurt myself.

Elan
04-11-2004, 12:31 AM
i would say that the spring idea was legit..but they ise the I-bean shape for the tubes in the vinco, totally invalidting that idea. IMO.

i wonder really how flexy it is though, and if they used that shape of tube as a precaution/reaction to how much it flexes because it is such a small trialngle.

My guess is in the last picture he either just kissed his front wheel or just reached forward to spin it.

I believe that's a Caisso frame in Koxx colors. Looks sweet, definately a comp frame given its weight.
