holy hard drops batman... yeah right- like we would have something that tech in pro in the US. 'pros' would whine and complain about this until the section was taped so you could drop straight off or something. the sad thing is gilles made this look uber easy too.

I can think of a few things he might have done, but what did he do exactly? Im whining for him just sitting here. You have to be real accurate in a huck to the top most part of the block and drop from that or just quickly kick from the angled part and pray your tires stick? I have no idea, just wondering what he did, thanks.

dolphin- there are some riders on this continent who care more about the label of being a "pro" even though their view of themselves is far to elevated relative to the truth. they are unable to comprehend this and as a result when something looks "hard" to them the course should be change to suit their needs because after all pro is the highest level and that means if they cant do it no one can.
what a brilliant state of mind some people have...

"These sections are way too hard, I 5ved 3 sections today, we should move the ribbon"
not that I can really talk shit as I havent competed in a year or two and when I did I fived everything they threw at me, but I do remember watching the pro's gathering around while watching sections and bitching that stuff should be changed if they didnt like it and I think usually it got changed..

Gilles amazes me...
Gilles was 17 years old in 2003. He stopped his studies at the end of 2002 to devote his time to Vtt Trial. The VTT trial has been its passion for 10 years even if it arrété for a few years acrobatics on bicycle to devote itself to horsemanship. Passion obliges, the VTT trial carried and for 4 years it has dreamed only of jumps and obstacles on its bicycle. Tous.les.jours, its single objective is to progress; the wound which opposed it in 2000 is not any more that one bad memory and the hours of drive are true moments of pleasure. Gilles cannot consider the trial without his brother and his father who are his source of inspiration. Attentively, it always listens to the councils of its close relations. The season 2002 installed Gilles in the world gratin of Vtt Trial at the side of his/her Giacomo brother. Despite everything there remains the youngest Elite pilot with a Cadet licence. After having very gained in 2001 it begins the season 2002 with an exploit by gaining the first sleeve of cut of France Elite. Malheureseusement it could not defend its chances convenablements with the championships of France after a bléssure with the hand. Fortunately it found all its means for the end of season. The titles of Champion of the World Junior UCI in 20 inches plus the second place in 26 and finally the title of Champion of the World Junior in BIU make of 2002 one season which predicts the most beautiful future with young person of Coustellier. The season 2003 starts well with superb a second place with Cornillon after a testing competition. The second great appointment of its season finishes on one 3rd place with the championships of France. Not badly from regret because it passes very ready from the gained title however by Giacomo. The cut of France of Valley of isère this finishes on a large fright after a large fall and a double fracture! The participation in the championships of the World seems compromised. It is with a will without equal which it recovered all its potential in a few days! The result is to the author of the objectives with the title of Champion of the World Junior in 26 inches and the second place in 20 inches. Gilles does not have finishes progressing.

Looking closer at that pic, just noticed that his brake levers are at very different angles. Looks like the left brake lever is angled down much farther than the right. Might just be the viewpoint of the photo, but I don't think so.

Dam, you are right! I bet if I changed up my levers to those settings, and added a 105/15 stem I could do at least some of the things he does. Once I get a White Industries freewheel Gilles wont have any more advantages over me.

that would be nice to just magically drop out of school and ride all the time...
i run my brake levers like that too. if i run my left lever flatter it pinches a nerve in my hand and if i run my right lever steeper it hurts my wrist...
i can't site with the pics for some reason, anyone else have this?

yes I also run my levers like that, but far from the same reason as Dave's. Its to do with the moves for which you need the different braking, pointing the rear lever upwards alows me to lean futher back and be at crazyer angles while still keeping powerful braking, pointing the front lever downwards is more comfortable in forward leaning moves. Many riders probably do this.
they try the craziest stuff known to man. i would expect dents and scratches all over that thing.

That must be why stefahn maeder never released any of the hours of footage he got of them back at vail 2001.

It does look like those frames can take a beating and keep on.....winning.
The forks look spotless.....new? never scratched? or constantly replaced?

if you look at the types of moves they do there isnt much room for serious fork scratching. but they could be new too, who konws
I dont feel so bad about my fucked up downtube now....
word, i thought EVERYthing they did was perfect..obviously not. now i feel like a can go bash up my down tube and all that without being called a faggot or a douche. maybe not. :ugh2:

are those frames buyable?

Yes. Granted its been over 4 months since some people gave the company their money for the frame, and they have seen nothing yet.

april 13th. problem lies in who made them not in the importer, resaler or the coust family. glad to see people know what they are getting into when they buy trials frames though.
forks are super strong. no constant replacing. downtube is mangled but still rides better than any of the bikes on this board. it's called product testing- some people do it.
hey guess what, time to ride some bikes.

my names kevin, and I'm a bittle little high school student.
"girls are icky! Time to go to europe to trials it up!"
I have been thinking about this recently (brake angles), and was wondering if it would help my front wheel moves to have my front lever angled steeper.

tried it, was uncomfortable. i think it was my bung wrist. so i tried it the opposite way - the front up and the rear down, and it was 10x more comfortable - apart from when i had my front wheel much higher than the rear. went back to normal, wootness.
ever thought of loosening your levers so that they can move freely, well not too freely but enough that the force applied when riding will shift them, ride and do a few moves, sections and see where they end up and then tighten them there? that would be the most natural spot since they kinda moved there naturally as u are riding.
i have my levers a little loose so with some force i can move them if ihave to, it is really handy if u get a nock or something
some1 please try setting up their levers the loose way then tightneing them and plz tell me how it works, otherwise quit ur bitchin and go ride!

since you grip them from the top, you would end up pushing them down until you couldnt reach them anymore.
