View Full Version : AndrewT Practice video 5

Ok, so I was pissed about my first ride so I just treated myself to some standard gaybo urban. Brought along the camera. Nothing big (I think?) going on, simple editing...some might like the songs... 5 mins long, plenty of riding- possibly worth the download.

Let me know what you think-

ps... yeah I fucked up the title screen, i didn't remember which practice vid it was.

holy shit your my hero! that video was sick. it seems your loads better on your xtp than your woodman. some of the gaps were insane and that beggining curb scene was pretty cool the way you figured out some lines. super sick video, hoping to see more of the sickness on your xtp soon!

by the way-at around 1 30 you did what i call a wedge. at around 4 20 into the video you did what i call a surge. any tips on either?
sick video

Just pay attention to body movement, on the "surge" as you call it you can see i push my chest down to my bars then jump up as high as I can...I also release my front brake which gives me a hook effect and pulls me up without much energy - but that doesn't always hold true depending on what you are riding on.

The wedge- once you learn how to stay there for a long time without falling all over the place then you can concentrate on the actual move. I tend to preload a lot, and then the most important part is an explosive move foreward- on REALLY big wedges I shift gears with my thigh, that gives you an idea of how far your body should go before you extend with your arms.

Glad you enjoyed it.

Once again very nice. I'm looking forward to seeing you on some more natural during a good ride. Looking good on the xtp, are you still running the 90 degree echo stem and bar or have you changed to a higher rise yet? time to watch again

I agree with Elan.. One of my favorite. The 90 degree gap over the grass to sidewalk was crazy

lol, look how far his legs are apart. gotta be almost 1m.

AndyT
03-23-2004, 05:15 PM
my bb weighs more than your chinaman frame, and is 13" wide. Not sure why you noticed that though :ugh:

Seems the aussies are taking a liking to my body :naughty: ... I almost took my shirt off during filming, but I took a break and cooled down instead.

hydroboy
03-23-2004, 05:35 PM
just when you were on the curb the first thing i noticed was how wide the pedals are apart.

AndyT
03-23-2004, 05:40 PM
My pedal spindles are 8.25" apart- so add another 2 " for where I put my feet... around 10-12" apart

BB is huge.

oicdn
03-23-2004, 05:42 PM
damn...they do look pretty far spaced now that you point it out....Andrew, does that width make a HUGE difference?

digby
03-23-2004, 06:38 PM
It most likely does, when I rode bmx with cranks with a huge ass spindle, it felt stable as hell because of the width, switching to the narrower bb of a road bike feels sketchier. Probably feels like riding with profiles.

AndyT
03-23-2004, 06:57 PM
Huge diff I don't know..... On balancing things I don't take my leg off and put it out to balance, I just bow my knee out now. That might give you a hint?

oicdn
03-23-2004, 08:07 PM
LOL....How wide was it across on your Woodman?

Bloodhound
03-23-2004, 08:31 PM
wow 8.25! what is your spindle size?

Elan
03-23-2004, 08:33 PM
128mm

AndyT
03-23-2004, 09:48 PM
127.5? Not sure, my woodman was just 113...

Great video Andrew

I liked that manual to up, that 90 deg. gap and that sidehop, your choice of music couldn't have been better for the vid, where do you find that shit?
So whens fort collins trials video 4 coming out? or have i missed it? or are you working on it at the momento?

What was wrong with your lever in the vid?

Looks like your loving that XTP, way nicer than the expensive coustellier frame in my opinion.

Lol, im sure you could provide some more nutritious entertainment for the Aussies with your camcorder than some old pic

I loved that vid

good, flawless editing aswell :)

that song owns very much so. When is the debut?

AndyT
03-29-2004, 02:00 PM
You find that kind of music by just being in the indie scene (sounds really gay to say that but its true). Fort Collins 4 has been at 3 minutes long for over a month now, it will not be released without more footage from robbie- who is still waiting on a coustellier (which no one knows where it is, 3 months later....)

Nothing was wrong with the lever, just tightening up the cable or something...right after that I figured out that my derailler wasn't even bolted on.

Modest mouse's new album Good News For People Who Love Bad News will be in stores 4/6 , float on is actually available on 7" and through that gay itunes stuff. www.modestmouse.com , it's been delayed since like fucking october . Glad someone liked the video, unlike a few canadians who make fun of me for releasing practice vids.
