In title, is this> http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/product.php?product_id=10361&category_id=10<, any good?

I'm looking for a mod bike, or really any bike in general to start on, and thats one of the cheaper mod bikes on tartybikes.

Also, are there any other sites i should buy from? Specifically US sites, so i dont have to pay $200 for shipping.

Then, are there any sorta good cheaper bikes on the market? I'm really just looking for a goodish mod bike.

okay, thanks.

1. dont know if its good
2. webcyclery, trialsin, midwestrials are all good. (use the search function... you can answer all your questions by using it)
3. look in the for sale section there are used bikes that are definately worth your money.

you can get a much better bike used for the same price new.

I don't want to discourage at all, I just started myself, but you're gonna have to step up into the $6-700 range to get anything worth buying. And that will be used.

I came into this thinking I could start out with an "OK" bike for $3-400, learn a bit and then upgrade, but it just doesn't work out that way.

I also thought that I could build up my own bike pretty cheap and soon realized that that wasn't happening either.

You need to be patient and save up some money or look real hard for a good deal.

Fluidride in Seattle has a few year old Monty mod (don't know which model) on consignment right now. It looks pretty clean and has been there a month that I know of. You might get a decent deal if you call em up. 411

I bought a used Yabaa 499 for my nephew who wanted to start riding trials. And I was extremely disappointed by the quality of the bike. It's very heavy and the components (except the frame) are very poor. It's a cheap bike, but considering the component mounted on it, I think it's way too expensive.
I would strongly recommand that you buy a good used bike instead.

Seriously... with the exchange rate you're lookin at about $630 + $200 shipping. You could get a good used bike for under $800 or you could go here http://www.trialsin.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_53_55&products_id=74&osCsid=635974b90e1a7 +$12 shipping and have a brand new, decent, bike for a little more. Made in N.A. none the less.

Or call fluidride and see what's up with that Monty. For real.

Was this the latest model of the 499? They are completely different now, new rims, bars, stem, tyres, brakes...

Actually, your math sorta sucks. I had it at around $501 for the bike, and i was thinking $150 or so for shipping (still a lot for shipping). Theres even a cheaper moddel of the 499 (some diff parts), and its $440 or so.

Edit: I'm not spending a grand on a bike, seriously.

Sorry....... But my math is nearly perfect. The bike you linked to says 322 GBP and at the current rate of 1 GBP to 1.95531 USD that comes to $629.61 and you said $200 for shipping. I'm just giving an opinion here and think you could probably get a better used bike, stateside, for less.

I hope you find a good bike and have a ton of fun on it, this is a cool sport.

You must have used the Euro... it's about $1.55.

You should call fluidride, check the link above. That Monty looked in good shape. Just find out the model and price and as much info as you can get on it and ask about it here. Check the FS forum and scoure craigslist(that's where I found my first)
