is it the fit? shape? rubber? just curious as to what makes a shoe "trials specific"

some shoes have sides to protect your ankle from getting bashed on the cranks. some have special "tread" on the bottom for grip. some have softer soles so you have feel the pedals better....

i used tryalls for 4 years, they work great, but i like my 25 dollar sambas just as much, and now i dont look like a fag when i go out to eat after a ride.

chris, you do still look like a fag after a ride even in your sambas

worry less about shoes, and more about you trials skin suit

....... how could you wear something like that and not explode into a rampage of cock sucking?

Nice shoes though.

I lold.

It was a sponsor thing though I think. Unfortunately what they say goes for the most part.

Skate shoes are great, they're cheap, decently grippy but the extra protection, awesome grip (on pedals & ground) and ease of putting them on is worth the money with the trials specific shoes.

I wear Five-Tens. A little stiff, but these things stick to ice! For real, they literally stick-to-ice. They are unreal.

Some pros actually wear the shoes that sponsor them, and re-sole them with the five-ten rubber. Again, a little stiff, so not for everyone.

Yeah, Five Tens definitely, I've been freeriding and downhilling for the past two years, and those things stick like crazy, just got my second pair after the last ones died, and it still amazes me.

Only thing is you might have trouble adjusting your foot position once you get it down, but if you get your foot down right the first time, it'll just feel like your foot and the pedal are one thing.

Impacts for the win.

trials shoe- something you wouldn't be seen with in public.

Typically really soft bottom, good ankle support, mix between a slipper and a hi top....

i didn't know five ten made any sort of skate/trials shoe. i've been climbing for years and i can imagine they make some darn sticky trials shoes. i thought about trying to use my approach shoes, but they are a tad snug, my toes would die with all the jumping around

Usually an approach shoe would have a thick sole too. Not ideal.

ive been doin the downhill/freeride thing for the past 10 years and the five tens rock for that! but for trials they almost feel too sticky, then again i am just starting back at it:hsugh: if they're good enough for sam hill i think they will do!!

I just got a pair of Five Ten BA51C's, the soles are thinner than the impact but the still have the stealth rubber and you can wear them off the bike. I haven't ridden with them yet however.

I've been wearing them for a couple years now and love 'em. I guess they aren't a trials specific shoe but they work 4 me.

I am new to trials and went through the same process to get shoes I was happy with, I tried a few and ended up with Specialized Sawpit's, really nice boot with ankle protection, lovely sitcky sole and the don't actually look too bad off the bike either.

Not sure I would really want a super sticky sole, foot movement is pretty important for a lot of moves. I love the super soft feel of try-all's just because it feels like I have so much control.
