i did a huge dropgap today, twice. with about 15 psi. the first time i did it super shit and unsmooth, i almost ruined both my shoulders when i landed and it sounded like a car crash. i thought my rim would be completely fucked, but just a flat spot. also a plug for zhi rims.

both times i left HUGE dents in the big hunk of treated wood, you could see where both sides of my rim had dug straight into it, like the tire wasn't even there.

minion + 1.9-2.1 lightass tube. no pinches.

I am amazed how many times I have hit the rim when I was running a high roller and didn't get flats and that was with a flyweight tube(weights 96 grams).
but that finally wore out so I'm giving a 2.7 syncros bht which is good so far except I had to cut all the side nobs off for it to fit.

I used argue the same for kenda blue grooves. I've used three, and I loved them. I have done some drop gaps from 4 foot walls to curbs and landed so hard I put dents in my rim. Never pinched, infact I went a year almost riding big and kind of sloppy on 12psi or lower.

Has anybody used highrollers? I tried one and fucken hated it on lower pressures. It just, felt weird. Like it was dead, it felt like I was fighting the tire more than normal. My buddy uses one and likes it... but then he runs way more tire pressure than me.

I'm always happy to shell out $65 for a Maxxis Minion DH 2.5...sure it weighs as much as a road bike and last three rides before the tread is gone but I have never pinch flatted, ever.

I've been running a single ply 2.3" maxxis for at least 6 months without an issue..

I flat doing the dumbest shit ever. always.

like you said, huge rim pinging impacts - no flat.

roll over a tiny sliver of glass in my parking lot- flat.

Cactus, I'm always running over and stepping on little ninja cactus, little buggers are almost invisible I tell you, I should buy stock in Slime.

I bought a second hand 2.35'' Minion DHR from Marino, I've been using it (+cheap tube) for 7 months and my rim has 2 dents but I've never had a flat.

Haven't flatted from a pinch flat when riding Maxxis yet.
Been riding some pretty gnarly rock chunder up in the bike park on my DH bike and still no flats.
My Minion F is bald and still hooking up in the dry, one of many reasons why I like Maxxis tires for anything bike related. (Road doesn't count)
