Well, the migration didn't quite go to plan, but after many hours of hard work our new site is up and running! Huge thanks to Dave and Scott at Cox Web Design (http://www.coxwebdesign.com) for their hard work with this one... Dave managed a 40 hour stint from 10am Friday to 2am Sunday with only 30 minutes sleep, nutter

Anyway, we have added some new features and the whole look of the site, which was around 3 years old, has been updated to be more modern. The layout and functionality remains similar but it should be a bit tidier, especially in the shopping basket and left hand products menu.

A cool new feature is also the automatic geolocation... international customers will have their region automatically detected and the price displayed with or without VAT depending on your country's tax status (check the top right hand corner of the site!). We also have a fully integrated UK postcode searcher to allow UK customers to input addresses much more quickly and accurately, and will have more handy bits and bobs added shortly.

We also have a new Media Area (http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/media-movies.html) - even the wallpapers have been updated! Rider page to follow shortly...

As always, if you have any comments or suggestions please let me know. There shouldn't be any bugs/issues on all the Supported Browsers (http://www.tartybikes.co.uk/supported-browsers.html), but if you do find anything I'll get onto it...

Looks very neat! Navigation is easy. It my just be my internet but it took a LOT longer to load pages than your previous site... getting any feedabck?

I think the loading time is due to the higher graphical content and/or the server running like a dog. I think it should speed up once the images are in your browser cache...

Another to note is that as soon as you use the basket, it switches to secure server which encrypts all the data (and your address details etc) and this does make it a little slower...

Thanks,
Adam

It's ok, except:
1.I think when you click on the menu on the left that it should stay in place and the embedded screen on the right should change, rather than the whole page reload.
2.When sliding the mouse over the category, i.e. Bottom Brackets, the drop down list should appear instead of having to click it.
3. It's slow, as mentioned before.

And, lets be honest, it's visually somewhat dull.

Just my opinion.

Try THIS (http://www.danicaracing.com/indexSmall.html) to see a really great website.

Functionality seems better to me, I like seeing the price with the tax removed (saves me doing maths) and doesn't seem to run much slower to me.

If I had to criticise, it maybe its not as colourful/bold as the old site, but it still looks good.

Keep up the good work guys.

good site, left menus are nice, reminds me of universal cycles, which is a good set up.

1. definitely
2. I disagree, I hate it when I'm moving the mouse down the side and drop down menus are popping up all over the place. I'd much rather click on the category to expand it.

And yeah, like people have mentioned, it is slower, but really not that bad.

Thanks for your comments.

Regarding 1: I agree also, I am not sure of the limitations of the language used to write the site, but I am sure that is within it's capabilities. Thanks

2. I disagree here, wouldn't have quite put it like Peace has but yeah... haha.

3. I am really struggling to work out why it is 'slow'. Loading time is a little higher than the last site, I agree - I'm no web expert but surely this is down to the extra graphical content? People who are reporting it running slowly, is it when using the secure server (https:// at the start of the address)?

Thanks for the link to Danica Patrick's site... for me, THAT is a SLLLOOOW site! Every click has taken at least 15 seconds to load ('Loading Modules') for me so far, and the whole site lags and is jerky. It does look awesome, but I feel it must be designed for users with massively powerful PCs and super-quick internet connections?

As I am sure everyone one is aware, websites are an ongoing job so I thank you for your comments!

Haha, good work Adam. :)

Cheers Mike!

Regarding loading speed, there were 220+ flag images to load previously which did make initial visits slow. These are now 'load on demand' (most people don't need to load them all as it selects your country for you), so the site runs much faster now.

Thanks
Adam

This is already down in our list of upgrades in the near future :) (as well as listing by 'TartyBikes Strength Rating', and possibly 'Value for Money' also). I hope we are able to get it added before someone else steals the idea!

Really liked the old site. Had style and was functional. The new one is still functional...

I'm not generally a fan of shaded/3-D buttons and designs.
