Why are all of the uk shops so expensive? Their like almost double the price on some things than what we can get here in the us... whats the deal? I could never afford to order from them...

I am guessing you are talking about far east brands mainly? Companies like Koxx and Monty should have their prices pretty uniform across the globe.

1. More advanced supply chain (shops in the US are selling direct to customers rather than supplying other retailers).

2. Taxes (boo :( )

Okay like my frame (GU St) is $400 from midwestbiketrials and its like 640 almost in USD from tarty...

Mmkay... just feel thankful you can get it cheaper where you live. I'm failing to see why you'd want to order from the UK rather than buy it cheaper from a US shop. Carry on though, not going to stop you buying from TartyBikes!!

But yeah, we get screwed over by tax and import duty over here which bumps the price up something chronic.

Seriously though on that one. Actually I've found that for certain things Tarty is actually cheaper. Like Monty and Koxx parts. Hey GuTrials, if your looking for none deng things look at Uniquetrials.com. Adrian can hook you up with some sweet V!Z parts! Also, Aki at Trialspads has Ozonys now so that should be cool.

The US government actually spends a higher percentage of it's revenue on healthcare than the UK.

Out of country buyers don't have to pay the 17.5% VAT tax which is included in the tarty prices. Also the exchange rate is worse (for the US) than it used to be.

exchange rates, the state of the economy, the weather etc

it's relative.. they're not expensive if you live and work in the UK earning £POUNDZZ
but if you want a wide choice and range of colours, do you have a choice?

17.5% VAT has to account for some of it.... although that should be taken off for international orders right? I know thats the case with our GST.

Freight from china? pretty USA would be a lot less... Freight can add an extra 10-20% onto your buying price when importing stuff.
The US importer and the UK importer for these parts may be taking a bigger cut?
The prices are what they are, just make a choice and stick with it... international RRP price parity is a myth in my books.

its cause UK ships have to travel thru rough lands (such as South Africa, and, the Iraq, everywhere such as) via camel and get mugged and shit by highwaymen or take long ship ride around africas to get to china.

usa just make nice like ship travel over the pacific to get to china imports.

Yes, if you assume the same yardsticks being used for government spending.
