My friend just got a monty mod. In shipping the front brake line was pulled out from the mount end-supposedly-and its braided. My question is how to fix it...
I searched and read so many threads but to no avail..
So I tried to re-thread the end on and it just blew back off-after reassembly and bleeding.
Can't find a part # for the little threaded piece that goes into the line. Do I just cut the line, and reassemble, or is the piece a one time use thing-like an olive, that needs replaced?
Any help would be great, and if you know where a thread is that discusses repairing the hose that would be great.
Thanks Caleb
Are you talking about these braided lines? If so I'm not even sure if they sell the parts for the braided lines. I know they do for the regular plastic lines...

I have an extra set of braided lines for the front, make an offer, they're yours if you want them.

So I assume someone has tried to use the regular barbed end-for plastic lines-braided lines have a smaller inner diameter-so that will not work.
Has anyone found a hardware store fix for this issue?
Perhaps a small clamp or something???
Hmm I looked at the product catalog again, they do have the proper fittings you can use to install the fittings but you'll need a sharp cable cutter according to the manual. The left small piece basically threads to the barbed fitting and screw to fit the two together while securing the braided cable. Chain Reaction Cycles has the picture of the fittings. Guess you're going to need it if your friend does not want to buy a new cable.

Those are the right fittings. Does someone know if they are re-usable, or must get a new one with every pull out??(insert perverted joke here) I think it should be possible to trim the line, then thread that fitting on, good as new. Will that work? If not how does the factory do it? An arbor press, or perhaps some adhesive, or perhaps they tap threads into the line?
Anyway got a replacement on the way, thanks a ton EDGE:):bigthumb:. But I would like to know how to fix this in the future. I am always more in the repair not replace mindset so please I am sure someone else knows how to fix a braided line that we all use.
I talked to Magura and they said you can re-use those fittings. And they just screw in, no need for other special tool other than getting the hose cut properly with a sharp cable cutter.

I want to say thanks a ton AKI, you went above and beyond answering a question...;):D:bigthumb:
You Rule, we will take it to a lbs and see if they will cut it. I don't have a high speed wheel, and I doubt a hacksaw is a good idea....
To the other guys who responded, thanks
Gotta say this is the first thread that I didn't get shit on (no gay jokes, or insults), and thats nice for a change...

Won't work for you, weighs too much :momaru:
We all start somewhere ;) No point in bashing each other.
