Looks like that Magura comes with the V-brake set up, not the four bolt dedicated mounts on your Simtra.

You'll end up spending so much extra time and money trying to make this set up work you might as well do it right the first time. Have you given any thought to V-brakes, save yourself a ton of trouble.

i have thought about getting some nice avid single digit brakes and a vbrake adapter but i am assuming that hs33 are stronger than V-s. if this is not so, what v brake would you recommend? im running bb7s now so ive already got housing, cable, and a lever.

and where could i get the adapters for v brakes relatively cheap, like less than 50ish??

Deore brake arms, full length housing, cous pads, nice grind, touch of tar, LX levers. Adapters, not sure. Take the time to make sure the pads hit square and with a little toe in, big power with no leaking. Maguras get the job done, you'll never have a leak with cable brakes and the power is just as good.

These ZHI adapters (http://www.trialsin.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_35_48&products_id=56) work well with these CRV brake pads (http://www.trialsin.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_35_46&products_id=124). A lot of people run this setup if they want to use V-brakes and they work amazing. (I highly recommend it) I like the idea of not having any hydraulic hoses on my bike to pinch or break. CRV brake pads look like this. (http://www.webcyclery.com/image.php?productid=18325&ver=large)

i saw those zhi adapters on trialsin but it just stinks that they are out of stock until mid june. i guess i just need to be patient and wait, and i think maybe around that time i can get a nice wheel built up finally. i think i will go with a v brake set up since it seems about the same price and ive heard that they can be very powerful

if your bike has four-bolt mounts, don't use vees
don't ever pay more than $50 for a used magura. they're not worth that much
echo are your best bet if you can lay down the cash

looking on webcyclery.com, i see this in the description of the hs-33

Also works great for any bike that has canti mounts (adapters are included) or that have the four bolt trials-style mounts.

so it looks like the new evo2 system could work either way, it just looks like it depends if the right bolts come with it

Is it not the evo2 mounts aren't that wide (rim-wise) and fits an 85 cm mount distance? I have a narrow v-brake mount like most MTB vbrake mount and the evo2 just fits it and I had to use the old evo mount just to fit a wide rim like a DX32.
