I'm rebuilding my front wheel and while it's apart I thought I would drill it out. I was going to go with 1/2" holes spaced evenly between the spokes. As I was marking the spots with a punch I came to the seam that is formed when the rim material hooks back to itsself (that's the spot I need to drill). Is it OK to drill on that seam? Is 1/2" (13mm) a good size hole for a DM24?
drill a hole there for your valve stem. what size is that? its like a 10mm hole. then drill out the original valve stem hole to match the rest of the rim.

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

drill a hole the same diameter as the original valve hole in the rim seam. then drill out the original valve hole to match the rest of the rim.

I have allway's stayed away from the seam when drilling rim's. one extra hole = little to no weight difference.
I think maybe it has something to do with my clef pallet :(
