As long as it doesn't have a kneepad, I don't really think it matters which one you get. They should all feel fine and work well, just make sure to always wear them!
I have no complaints about my Lizard Skins. I think plastic inserts and full backings are good, minimal effect on heat buildup... especially when paired with short-shorts.
i have the lizard skin ones... funny thing is i never bash my shin when i have them on.
ha, go figure.
also it's pretty hot in them,, i am sure i won't be waring them much in the summer.

I went on eBay and looked for them and ended up getting mine for like $13. Look there first before buying anything expensive. Sixsixone has some different types as well.

i've been very happy with my lizard skins shin guards, they dont get too hot or at least that i notice and they are pretty comfortable. the only thing is to wear ankle socks so the velcro doesnt rub your Achilles tendon spot too much
I believe 661 veggies are pretty good.

I also use the lizard skins. They are pretty comfortable and they look like they wouldn't be as hot as the 661 shine guards. Sometimes it would be nice to have the knee and shin padding though.

i used to wear hammer knee/shim combo for urban/street. it was gel with a plastic insert at the shim, but it was really hot. and since the only real damage that can be done riding trials is to the shins, ill go without them. sure nailing your shins hurt, but i get nothing more then a cut with some crazy puffiness

I ride an old school style mod, high top tube, so I wear knee and shin guards. It's kinda hot and uncomfy, but after I was unable to ride for a few days do to a huge goose egg on my right knee, it was a no brainer idea. Sure I will change to shin only, but not until I can keep from slammin knees into top tube.

I was too cheap to buy "fancy" shin guards, so I started out with regular soccer shin guards. They're better than nothing.
