I'm new to this forum, and new to the art of riding trials, but not to bikes. I will be living in Atlanta this summer, and did some forum searching- finding there are several people who live/ride there. I've done a lot of street/dj stuff along with a some freeride action, but i really want to get into riding trials.

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to will help me get into trials- meet with me and discuss things like geometry, frame brands, basic posture/beginner skills, and anything else to help me make a solid decision. I've been on a stock frame a couple times, but i want to see what a mod feels like, and compare brands. I'll be interning at an engineering firm, so i'll have spare time that I can come meet you. If you would be willing to help, I would greatly appreciate that.

I understand that riding trials isn't something you can pick up overnight, but I'm pretty devoted, and I love bikes, so your time won't be wasted- I just don't want to take a shot in the dark and regret it.

I added a redirect in the south/southwest forum, so hopefully you can gather their attention.

As for the meet up with discussing of geometry, I would suggest just meeting up for a ride and bringing whatever mountain bike you have to try the basics with them. You can discuss whatever you want on the ride. Provided you aren't scary big/harsh on bikes, I'm sure they'd be happy to let you give their bikes a go to get a feel for the difference geometry makes.

Hey John,

It would be great to have another Atlanta rider, even if its only for the summer. When will you be in the area? Send me an e-mail or PM and we can figure out when we can meet up.

I'm really pumped that you're cool with meeting up; I can't wait...

I strayed from the truth with 2 aspects: It's really a co-op, meaning I work 3 terms with breaks in between, each term being about 3 months. And I'm really going to be in Duluth, but I consider anything within 20 minutes of Atlanta as Atlanta, and Duluth is about 20 minutes away, if I'm correct. I just said what I did to avoid confusion.

And I'm moving in May 15th, moving back home on August 12th, then coming back sometime after, so I'll be getting some practice in while away.

Feel free to give me a shout,
John Fischer

I was going to post my number, but I could read the forums without being a member, so that's a bad idea

Sure, I've been in Atlanta for about 5 months now. I've ridden a few times with a guy, Ben T. I am interested in finding some good spots to ride.

I actually just packed up my stock bike to ship it to California, ill be there for two weeks for business, but if you wanted to ride this week, i also have a mod bike i could use. Let me know.
