sooo im new to trials :D jus picked up a bike and have been messin around a while after watchin the Mastering the Art of Trials vid... have mtb background and ride motocross as well sooo bunny hopping and other such skills are somewhat easy for me... well anyway... the bike i got has a Specialized Enduro 26x2.3 on the rear annd Ive been tryin to do some bunny hops onto a concrete ledge just a foot and half off the ground, however, just smackin the ledge with the back wheel pinch flats... this happend to me the first day as well when i hit a shart concrete bump just a few inches off the ground... biketrials.com suggested i fill up to 26psi in the rear... Am I doin somthing wrong??? Any suggestions??? :dunno:

try using downhill tubes, if your not already, they are much thicker than normal ones

Switch to a downhill rear tire. The Enduro tires have a normal sidewall that will pinch quite easily. Look for a Dual Ply (or 2 ply) downhill tire like a Maxxis Minion DHR, Michelin, Specialized Chunder, or Tryall.

Yeah they're heavier, but they don't pinch and they are much more stable. There's a reason why even the elite level riders use a heavy rear tire.

Switching to a wider rim would also help, but it's not as easy as switching tires.

could it be that the tires have weak sidewalls? they're really soft when completely flat...

All of the things suggested so far are awesome. The combination I found to work when I was using crappy kenda 2.35" tires was to go to walmart and by their "puncture resistant tubes" They came in a box about 3-4x bigger then a regular tube. They weighed a ton, but a year and a half of hard riding later and I have never had a pinch flat, ever. And i run about 15 PSI on those tires and I have destroyed the rim.

I also agree with getting new tires. I have a 2.5" maxxis mobster on the rear of my stock. The rim isnt even that wide maybe 40mm at most, and I have never had a problem with it. It feels far more bouncy then what I had before, so that is a plus.

another question is whether i can get a wider tire for the rear? The one on there is a 2.3, will a 2.5 fit on the same rim or would i need a wider rim?

Do you know what rims you have? If you put too big of a tire on a narrow rim, it will be more likely to roll over.

I'm going to assume that you have narrower, non trials specific rims. So stick with the 2.3" sizes.

Except that Specialized tires run larger. So if you are using a 2.3 Enduro tire, a 2.5" Maxxis Minion DHR will be similar in size. 2.3" maxxis tires are pretty small.

My top three tire choices:

Tryall (runs slightly higher pressures, but sticks to everything, harder to find)
any Specialized DH S-Works(not quite as sticky, but great rebound and stability)
Maxxis Minion DHR (good stick, good rebound)

Alex DX32 are great rims. They're 39mm wide.

For tryall tires, check in with Hugo at hbtrials.com. Email: info@hbtrials.com

Specialized doesn't allow their stuff to be sold online, except through their website. specialized.com

Maxxis can be found all over the place. Try here: http://www.jensonusa.com/store/product/TI401A14-Maxxis+Minion+Dhr+Tire.aspx

When I was first learning pedal ups I wopuld pinch flat every single ride. I had Kenda 2.5 DH tires, heavy duty tubes and DX-32 rim; it didn't matter, my 2 bucks would smack that concrete corner and... psssss. I just decided to run 40 psi untill I got smoother.

yeah, the specialized enduro tires are pretty flimsy. My wife got an '05 Enduro and the first thing I did was replace the tires. I guess you've already ordered your tires, but be sure that they have the DH casing (2 ply not single ply). Tends to come with a wire bead.

Since your DX32 rims are perfect, the size of tire you can fit will be dictated by your frame. See how much clearance you have with your current tires and guesstimate how much extra room you'll have. But since you've already ordered your tires, try 'em on when you get them. Like darkside mentioned, Maxxis tires do tend to be narrower than other tires...

Another pinch flat issue might be the inside surface of the rim. Rough metal edges around eyelet holes, or any other prickly surface will cause problems. File those edges down and use a wide rim strip (hockey tape works). Some people use a sprinkle of talcum powder inside the tire. It's a good idea, but if you're running super low pressure, keep the powder away from the bead because it will make the bead slip on the rim.
